Every decade list has been topped by or predictably dominated by the usual (male) suspects. It's a rare sighting when a female artist reaches a top 10 placement (7/70 spots) and it's only slightly better throughout the full lists (164/1152 spots (14.2%)).I thought at first the top picks might be predictable, but if it's just women vs. women, the competition is wide open with those pesky men out of the way.I've been wanting to do this list since before I even thought of the 21st century list, but didn't know exactly how to go forward with rules. THE RULESMinimum of 50 Albums (if this is difficult for you, you need to look at yourself in the mirror)Maximum of 70 Albums(make sure to rank top to bottom, 1-whatever)ALL GENRES AND ALL DECADES ARE APPLICABLE TO VOTING.MAX 4 ALBUMS PER ARTIST (this shouldn't be hard to work around. I just don't want people voting 8 albums by one artist to clutter their list. Spread the love.)EPs, Compilations and Mixtapes are allowed. No bootlegs though.

WHAT IS APPLICABLE AS A 'FEMALE ARTIST'?Solo female artist (singer or composer)Undisputed female band leader/composer in an instrumental groupAll female groupsUnisex groups with female(s) as only LEAD vocalist (male back-up on occasion is fine)Transgender women (if they were a male at the time of recordings and switched after, that is fine.)Non-binary who were born female and did not make the full switch from female to male. I can't be bothered to exclude all non-binary and keep track of every woman who switched to they/them Lmao (i.e. Fever Ray, The Knife, Yeule, Kehlani, Hop Along are all allowed)
