Very BasedI think making 50 minimum will be tough for some people. Some people just don't listen to that many female artists
It was either this or limiting artist picks per section of list, i.e. 10 different artists in top 10.) I chose the former to let people go crazy with their top picks but wanted to keep it somewhat controlled

I just counted up 100 album contenders from RYM. First time I'm excited to do a list tbh. Gonna be brutal eliminating some of these Joni albums tho

It’s a lot easier when you can pick 4 albums per artist
It was tough for me to think of 50 albums though by doing 1 artist each
I did break that just a bit by doing 2 albums each from MIA and Janet Jackson because they’re my 2 fav female artists all time. Also kinda did that with Yoko Kanno doing one album from her solo and her band, the Seatbelts.

yeah i thought i’d easily be able to do a list of 50 w 1 album per artist, but na smh. i’m limiting to two albums for my favs

Every decade list has been topped by or predictably dominated by the usual (male) suspects. It's a rare sighting when a female artist reaches a top 10 placement (7/70 spots) and it's only slightly better throughout the full lists (164/1152 spots (14.2%)).I thought at first the top picks might be predictable, but if it's just women vs. women, the competition is wide open with those pesky men out of the way.I've been wanting to do this list since before I even thought of the 21st century list, but didn't know exactly how to go forward with rules. happy to inform y’all i’ve been writing most days for the past couple weeks, mostly poetry but some short essays and journal entries here and there.
anyways, i came up with a banger idea for a novel this morning and manically wrote a 1,000 word outline for it that looks pretty good actually. i think i finally feel ready to write something longer, something full length like a novel or novella at least.
