Crazy how Andersonn got his visual style from pretty much doing deadpan commercials in Sweden. Even has the pale makeup characters in a lot of them. His first films in the 70s look nothing like his films now. Basically his second film was such a failure he had to quit the film industry for 25 years and direct commercials. And that's where he developed his signature style

I also remember being told in film school that he sometimes spends weeks setting up a single shot. I don't know how true that is .
