Y'all really want me to justify the way the entire rap genre treats women because I don't like to hear Killer Mike suck off the cops
f*** off
I don’t even get what is Republican about his views. His argument has always lined up with black panthers. Basically that if the state systemically discriminates then black people should defend themselves against their oppressors with whatever tools they can get ahold of—which naturally includes firearms.

Have no problem with that. Guess I'll f***ing revisited the album since y'all want receipts.

Well your reasoning is flawed and hypocritical. Just say you don't care for that particular message instead of pretending that most of the violence and misogyny in rap 'isn't real'.

Listen, if he’s defending cops then sure I kinda get it, but that’s never really been a position I’ve seen him take. He was a big part of Black Lives Matter.
Are you guys kidding me?
i cant tell if you were being sarcastic or not so idk
Kanye was extremely open about his addiction with p*** and how having a daughter didn't change his addiction around the TLOP era, but I guess it's not real.

His dad was a cop so I'm not even mad I just don't want to hear it personally

You got me bro I'm a misogynist
You got me bro I'm a misogynist
Never said you were
just that your reasoning made no sense and saying the hateful messages in rap wasn't real was also ridiculous
I've been doing my Kanye album listing parties with my best friend who is a woman for the past 13 years. At no point did she hit pause and say you know what this is kind of uncool.

I wouldn’t really classify that as misogyny but I get what you’re saying. It definitely colors his subject matter. I’m starting to see what Elric means tho. There’s something more specific and “real” as it relates to current political dynamics—more so than s***and violence which are just kinda broad exaggerated topics that have always naturally been “exploited” in art.

Yeah well I just had Christmas dinner at my in-law's and I'm a little drunk and maybe not in the best debate mode . And also on flabbergasted that I'm getting put on trial for raps misogyny for not liking police bars.

That's crazy because my sister, who likes the earlier Kanye stuff with less misogyny doesn't like his 2010s on stuff because of the lyrical content towards women. It's easy for your Kanye-super fan friend to just brush it off but it may not be that way to a neutral listener

Okay, I'm not sure what to tell you

I don't like pro police bars either and never debated you on that specific line of thinking. I was just flabbergasted by your misogyny/violence talking point.

plenty of women whod also think "this is uncool" at the first use of the word b**** or hoe
not saying kanye as the main example just in general. also i feel like theres nuance than just plain 'misogyny' too ofc, like being outright hateful vs casual objectifying vs. plain ol ignorance vs exaggering with artistic license vs. whatever

So you were digging the album until Mike said something social/political you disagreed with
Maybe Mike would give you the

I think “misogyny” and violence can be made “fun” in the context of a song or any other artistic abstraction. Exploitation movies and gangster rap are entertaining.

Kanye feels like the exaggerating type. Especially being such a mamas boy.

I gotcha brother. I know what you meant now.

I still love Killer Mike but that albums energy was off for me
