I distinctly remember you defending Israel after the initial Hamas attack. Maybe I’m mistaken.

well first, that was before the gaza bombing, so it's comparable to defending new york city after 9/11. second, all I did was point out the lack of nuance in the life thread and call out the people who were celebrating the attack. it's all good though. I also hear the asians are committing a genocide in Xianjing when will it end?

That’s fair. Trying to sift through anti Chinese communist propaganda is difficult. There’s a lot more going on underneath a lot of these common western narratives. Also I see what you’re doing, but you knew what I meant when I said “Jews committing genocide”. Regardless there’s not going to be an uptick in antisemitic violence due to a rap album.

Sry but structurally antisemitic thinking has been on the rise in the general population for years now. It's extremely difficult to grapple with that conflict because of that. Istael's murderous politics have to be condemned but without referring to jewish Religion or judaism.

Otherwise, Lefties turning into NazBols, extreme black and White thinking among moderates (left-liberals, conservatives), conspiracies etc..

Then again, i tend to consider everyone who is not left-libertarian a fascist

Obviously I wasn’t referring to all Jewish people. Also of course there’s been a rise in antisemitism—which is very clearly due to certain online spheres allowing larger groups of people to communicate in order to spread propaganda and hate. I just don’t believe Kanye has had any meaningful contribution to that. Also what a bizarrely reductive way to end your point. Most people aren’t politically literate and have complicated messy and often contradictory beliefs that don’t fit neatly into a box. I guess they’re just fascists to you.

I know. It's difficult imo since Ye does have his reach. While I do agree with it often being overstated I think that it also can be understated as he's one of the most famous musicians on the planet.

It was more of a joke but I do have that sort of paranoia to a degree. Also frustration and you're right imo

I apologize if I came off antagonistic with that last part, but despite me thinking some elements of culture broadly are getting better or at least more relaxed (beyond some of the extremist stuff online)—I do think people are too quick to frame strangers as their enemies. I kind of go over this in more detail in my review on Letterboxd for The Curse. That show I think is incredibly poignant now.

Is Ye really that popular outside of his core fans these days ? I only know like 4 people irl who actively listen to him. I don’t expect his album sales to maintain after the initial shock value either. That goofy Fantano review certainly helped

I thought this but the album is number 1 one in pretty much every country in the world so I guess his core fan base is still f***ing massive. But yeah I hardly know anyone in real life that hasn't at least partly checked out

I’ll say one thing, Donda is his best album post Dark Fantasy. It has some bloat but the highs

How would you define left libertarianism? I can't really find a solid definition online anywhere hope I'm not a fascist

Picking a concrete political ideology to follow or whatever seems very difficult and silly when they all have a long ass list of definitions, and I'm supposed to agree with every single one?

Yeah basically anarcho-syndicalism, anarcho-communism. Few hierarchical structures and mostly built on cooperation.

Same. Not Sure about that classification either

I definitely digged it for the most part, I don’t mind the gospel spirit. It feels like a big album, what I would expect from Kanye at this point. Not top 3 or anything but solid

would The Green Party be Canadas version of a left libertarian party? they always seemed good but were apparently a wasted vote. the social democrat party (NDP) just slapped a ton of regulations on Air BNB to make that scam alot harder to run so they're getting my support. everybody else seems too scared to deal with this s***.
