Classic album. But (you're gonna hate me for this lol), i actually prefer Morgan's version of Cover Me Up now lol. Isbell's is still awesome tho

yeah I definitely disagree on that one. Isbell's Cover Me Up live version is also just as good (imo). At the end when those pounding drums and electric guitar come in
normally I don't like the histrionics but in this case it slaps
the older live versions used to have his wife playing the violin on it which was always

too bad Isbell seems like a huge insufferable Jackass in real life.

they f***ed off to study transcendental meditation or whatever at a remote ashram in India and didnt have access to the mountain of acid and other d**** they were doing in 1967, so the songs were alot more focused and down to earth. not as reliant on fancy production. their best album by a fairly wide margin.

George Harrison pretty much devoted his life to the same type of meditation/philosophy my parents practice, Adveita (Vedanta). My dad teaches it a couple times per week I think? Apparently Harrison even spent a lot of months later in his life in a part of Massachusetts near where I'm from where there are a lot of people who practice those Eastern schools of thought. I'm trying to get more into it these days.

Not that knowledgable of transcendental meditation but I know David Lynch is (and obviously Harrison was) a big proponent of it.

If you were born when they still made silent films you get a pass

yeah pretty crazy how old he is and still doing films every few years. Who else at that age even directs films? Jodorowsky is 94 and still working on a film so I guess he has him beat by a year. Not that I'm a fan.

Velvet Underground, Zappa, Dylan, Kinks, Van Morrison, Elevators, Doors, Byrds, Can... I could keep going all day. all had daring albums in their own ways.

And the most daring era of jazz

    Just them afaict

It's funny how it's was considered miraculous that Ford, Hitch etc were still directing in their 70s but now we got geezers in their 90s still going lol.

Yeah I been trying a bit as well but can't find a mantra that stops my brain from buzzing around like an artistic hummingbird
