    that 2001 rewatch was potent

lowkey was thinking that i might even prefer some aspects as they were portrayed in the book some of the stargate sequence and final parts, and going to a moon of saturn instead of jupiter (obviously makes sense practicality wise that kubrick couldnt do some crazy ass saturn+moon sequence)

in the book when Bowman sees a derelict space station or something after going through the stargate and how it describes the food and TV in the room

great complements to each other though anyway

I should reread it tbh, just got it back from a friend who had it for like 5 years. have an old first edition copy that was some school library's lol.

It definitely took any ambiguity out of the final scene in the bedroom which was probably best done how Kubrick did it.

Funny hearing the apes names and thoughts, the social aspects of their tribe and s*** lol.

Wasn’t the first Mission: Impossible from that same year too? De Palma went crazy with that one

yeah agree on the ambiguity part but after knowing all the stuff it was cool to read some of the stuff like Hal's internal struggle, more details in general. cool to read the description of what the room is

definitely wouldnt recommend anyone reading it before watching the film for that reason (among many)

also didnt really remember that in the movie Bowman goes out to try to save Poole

now ill see how that book sequel is

Well I've seen 2 Wong Kar-Wai now, and Chungking express was neat, but imo In the Mood For Love just completely shattered it, no question

In the mood for love is perfect but I think the first half of chungking is my favorite thing wkw has ever put out.

    Also 2046 is heartbreaking too.

cant really get into Wong. Ashes of Time and Fallen Angels were ok. Chungking and ITMFL put me to sleep. Hong Kong definitely my least favourite of the Chinese cinemas. King Hu, Shaw and Stephen Chow great tho obv.
