I f*** with Finch but never really seen anyone hold him as a "pinnacle". Digital game is on point and he's got genre clossics. I can see how someone would say his films feel clinical and detached tho.
Those flicks that look instagram filtered or have that artificial film look ugh..
American Honey :vom:
no one does serial killer flicks like fincher
Has he done anything since gone girl? Seems like an eternity

So many people say the same thing about him, Nolan, and Villeneuve now that it’s gotten to become the most boring take. No offense. Any filmmaker who’s able to have wide appeal while also being regarded as smarter than the average schlock is instantly thrown to the side by people chiming in “umm actually they’re overrated bro”.

i don’t think he’s overrated i think he’s trash lmao idc if dude is good at making safe, bland movies for white people. i hate those kinds of movies.

Bland?
Not everyone needs to ooze style, sometimes supporting a strong story is enough

I might have done that. For example, I don't think he has made a good film last decade and he's overrated but tbh I've cooled down. Se7en, Fight Club, The Game and Zodiac are great films imo. None of them is really among my favorites but who cares.
His films are sometimes a tad too conservative and the provocative storylines are not always that successful (Fight Club in particular is rather messy) but he's a good Thriller director and his dark and gritty style complimented that in his early films. There are some really striking images in them.
