Bro I never claimed to be unique or a snowflake for liking Joanna Newsom. I just didn't think she got a s***load of attention like other artists this decade.
You ain't even fam
the landscape of the online sphere has changed in the second half of the decade, so she's not getting talked about as much, because
1. she's white
2. she hasn't released any music in a while, her main contender dropped in the very first year of the decade
with that said
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Have_One_on_Me#Accolades
it's the 16th best album of the decade according to pitchfork

one of the best this yr
Once again, I'm not using the public reception as a way to influence my opinion. And Im not wrong in saying an album's reception is at least somewhat connected to the album. All I said was that it was a talking point to lead up to more in depth discussion on the album. Not once did I say calling it overrated was the end all be all of criticism. You clearly didn't get what I was saying.
How many times I have to explain to this f***ing rando???
Here's an easier way of explaining what I mean.
Me: Album is overrated
Other person: that's a lazy criticism.
Me: here's the things I don't like about the album that warrant my reaction.
But nah this guy thinks my entire f***ing criticism is just 'overrated'. F*** off

I suppose had HOoM been released in 2017-19, recency bias would definitely help it out a lot
Prince over Sonic Youth all day
Sonic Youth the most influential rock band of the last 40 years.. I think not..
wonder if we’re ever gonna be able to PM on here
i’m sure S will add it within the next couple updates. tons of people have been wondering about it
bro shut up already
no one gives a f*** what you have to say
dont just come into thread to be an a****** and try to act funny with emojis
You put words into my mouth first and you're calling me lazy for using overrated as a starting point to discuss an album
You're so hellbent on the overrated aspect that you're completely ignoring everything else I said. ME CALLING SOMETHING OVERRATED IS A TALKING POINT AND LEADS TO CRITICISM, IT ISN'T MY FINAL CRITIQUE OF AN ALBUM. I don't care if you think it's lazy because you clearly have no idea what the f*** I'm taking about.
There are albums I like alot that are overrated but that would make no sense if that was all I said about it. SO THAT'S WHY AFTERWARDS I WOULD EXPLAIN THE THINGS I DISLIKE ABOUT THE ALBUM.
You're calling it lazy and trite when I've literally said I would follow it up with the elements I like/ dislike about the album.
If you don't agree with calling something overrated that's fine but don't assume I'm being lazy with my critique just because I use it as a leeway into actual discussion
