  • Fatphobia isn’t a thing. Being fat is disgusting and unhealthy. If you disagree go f*** yourself

    I agree with the sentiment

Yeah tbh, a lot of takes I been seeing in the past year have just been try hard. Seems like some want to be on that s*** cause of the virality of it. It's the same for the other side too, example being candace owens.

people are not woke enough. beyond the internet people are way different

like others say some people over a***yse a lot. sometimes white feminism and typically (white) liberals people tend to focus on things that do nothing for “oppressed” peoples.

i agree. it was the course our culture was already on and the internet just acted as a catalyst. once the acrimonious edge of woke culture gets eliminated and people understand universality is a new culture and not a mitigation of old ones then it'll be complete

I agree with some of your inherent sentiments (like on the construction of the current environment and interaction between different groups as they find similarity)

But I think the idea of a universal culture is quite naive mostly because of the endless pursuit for material acquisition and its limited potential for immediate gain over long term development.

Basically, there is not enough to feed that culture and so that culture will feed on itself.

It just pushes the goal posts and barriers from basic tribal relations to absolute survival instincts and complex social hierarchy based on inherent complexity and need

a lot of people just be saying anything under the guise of being progressive

Malcolm warned us about these type of people decades ago idk why people don't think they still exist

(just answering the title, not talking about the vid)

Universal culture to me is just the way in which various cultures communicate with one another.

    A universal language, idiosyncrasies, etc.

Not necessarily universal moral and ethical codes.

Just a mutual respect to some degree, and a higher capacity to communicate and empathize with people you disagree with.

In that way people don't have to agree they just have to get along enough, to contribute to some form of common good.

I think the internet to a degree has to serve as a petri dish for universal culture, which is why this subject is so interesting, and this thread exist.

  • Jun 20, 2021

A universal culture not having substance in itself is true.

But I think it is more so the amalgamation of multiple cultures than something with its own unique identity.

Which is how culture is formed no?

i feel like calling someone fat or insulting them based on their weight makes that person feel ashamed/bad and can make it even harder for them lose weight if thats their goal, so i dont feel its really an appropriate thing to say... or at least i wouldnt say it

being obese leads to an increased risk of health issues, so does being too thin. however, i personally am not responsible for anyone else's health and dont really feel any type of way abt someone else's poor health per se. therefore i dont really want to go out of my way to tell someone to lose weight or anything like that--im sure theyre aware of the health risks already

i think overall,,,, a lack of nutrition education in schools/at home, an upbringing where their parents did not give them a diverse amount of food, a certain type of..... corporate greed, and often mental issues that leads to people having a really bad relationship with food
at the end of the day i feel kind of empathy when i consider those factors

but also i dont think its fatphobic to want to be like.... an avg, medically advised weight and to not want to be overweight

ya i feel like mans issue is that
this is a complex topic and he

    a. doesnt rly define his terms as to what he means when he says "fat"
    b. say what you should and shouldnt do according to him with any sort of idk deeper explanation or anything. its just dont do this, do this

just very surface level that wont change any minds
and if it does change your mind,...... you're just following someones say so without any like.... real thinking or wanting to deeply understand what the issue is

i feel like thats what a lot of this online idk ~social justice stuff has become recently
rather than like investigating the structure or history of race relations in the us or globally for instance, people just read "eyeliner bad its yellowface" and start hopping on tik tok trying cancel any tom d*** and joe for wearing eyeliner

Not saying a ubiquitous heterogeneous culture will emerge that includes all peoples, but a new culture will emerge that embraces universality that some(not all) peoples will select as their primary culture as apposed to their ethnic / ancestral one. It’s already out there anyways

Sure, I can agree with that.

How long will it last, who will carry it on between breaks, or could it address the rest of our cultural issues without creating more error - I don’t know.

Woke is a controversy designed to lead you away from the actual pressing issues of the day. It's all performative outrage and culture war gridlock. The media cycle will never end if you don't ignore it and concentrate on the material.
