The Darkest AngelI disagree, I listen to all 3 but Drake's music has me more impressed every single time. It's hard to speak on Kendrick because he's on a hiatus but DAMN was a step down from TPAB while Drake and Cole are reaching new heights this far into their career. Cole especially with Off Season.
But comparing Drake vs Cole I'm so engaged in Drake's music I stopped listening to a new Cole album just to hear him on a Nicki Minaj mixtape. Drake's quality is too consistently for any other rapper right now to compete.

This is why I think it's subjective.
Because music quality doesn't necessarily reflect effort.
Take WLR for example. I love the album, but can we honestly act like beats and the lyrics weren't extremely simple? The outcome is mostly what matters when it comes to talking bout quality. You can have a simple formula and it clicks, or try really hard and have it still sound bad.
Carti is deceptively simple and the most effective filter of the last 5 years cause he'll weed out your blind spot instantly. Carti, by completely abandoning the "importance" of words, focuses even harder on every other type of rhythm. Vocal intonation, timing, ad-libs, etc.
