And this is all coming from someone who personally doesn’t f*** with tobacco/nicotine at all and much prefers a good cannabis high. I have no love for this industry. But prohibition is proven to fail and this is going to blow up in their faces at the absolute worst time

It really depends on what you’re vaping. If you’re vaping quality vape juice, then it is basically harmless compared to the effects of smoking tobacco or even weed

    How so

By consistently alienating not only the progressive wing of the party, but the entire next generation of democrat voters who are growing up in an absolute s***show largely caused by the last admin and barely addressed by the current one - the one that was supposed to be the “progressive” alternative.

We just gave up on the pandemic and let it rip, I’m not optimistic about any kind of healthcare infrastructure being put into place to help the future long Covid survivors either.

We’re seeing an exodus of crucial frontline workers from teachers to nurses to firefighters, and I can’t blame them because minimum wage is still f***ing $7.25 and there’s hardly been any kind of incentives to make up for how much more dangerous and thankless those jobs got during the pandemic.

Our gun problem is worsening and the “reform” bill was disgustingly weak, meanwhile the police in Uvalde are clearly in the process of obstructing the law and no one cares at the federal level.

Inflation is rampant and both homes and gas prices are starting to price out the middle class from their existing lifestyle, and Biden has been happy to blame the war for gas (partially true but the buck stops with him and he’s waffling on a tax holiday, which is, again, the bare minimum) and completely ignore the structural/capitalistic failures leading to the housing market.

And now we’re getting headlines like this that play right into conservative talking points and directly disadvantage the next generation of democrat voters while continuing to ignore what they voted for in the first place.

If you look at where we were in 2020 versus now, we have been failed by two leaders of opposite parties. The difference is that Trump failed for deliberate lack of trying (and arguably succeeded in f***ing up our courts and general political norms for the foreseeable future) and Biden ran on fixing the mess and gave lip service to plenty of progressive plans until it came time to actually execute. He’s been the most stubborn neoliberal we could’ve possibly had (never forget how the 2020 primaries went, for that matter) and it’s absolutely disgusting that we were forced into a situation where “nothing will fundamentally change” was objectively better than “things will rapidly continue to deteriorate unabated while the rich profit.”

I’m pissed because this is poisoning the well for a generation coming of age in this absolute s***show, the ones who are learning progressive ideals younger and younger and have the chance to actually make a difference. Instead, we’re stuck behind these leaders who’ve already prospered and don’t want to rock the boat to save the rest of us who haven’t had the chance.

Edit: and to actually answer your question because I got off track lmao: the voters this fall and in 2024 are going to be hard pressed to believe the same “we’re the ones who can fix this!” rhetoric that barely won in 2020. If anything, the right has only become bolder and more energized. Radically regressive ideals are becoming mainstream; again, look at TX. That’s what we’re up against, and Biden is a laughable face of the party that’s supposed to actually be the better option.
