Drew Findling is now doing OTF Vonnie's cross examination

Drew Findling plays an audio phone message of Vonnie in jail last year, “I hate gang. I’m going for that job interview. Speaking to the press, well rested, n*gga. Have a lunch box. F*ck it I want to go home.”

In a separate call about testifying: "Today was going to be my time to shine."

Findling: Do you take this serious ?

Vonnie: Oh it’s very serious.

Findling: You said (on the jail call) it’s time to perform?

Vonnie: It’s time to tell the truth

Findling: We may be near be Hollywood..

Judge: Please ask the question

Findling: It’s not acting

Vonnie: Not at any any point & time was I not truthful

Findling: Oh, we are going to talk about that

Findling: They (FBI) saw you in a nice house in Sherman Oaks and nice car.

Vonnie: Yes. Maybach SUV

Findling: That’s a nice car ?

Vonnie: It’s aight

Findling: You’re in the stolen car business. So you know better

Vonnie said he felt wrong after the murder of Saviay'a Robinson.

"That's not normal," he told the courtroom about Robinson's murder. "People don't die in Beverly Hills. Especially murder."

Vonnie was uneasy from the start, he testified, because the white BMW from VEM Exotics was connected to him.

He also said he was told by Durk and the others to burn the stolen white Infiniti, which we had heard in court before.

Von testified he did not burn the hot car.

Instead, he said he wiped it down and parked it illegally so that it would be towed, but lied and told Durk he burned the car.

Vonnie testified he did not originally know he would be involved in the attempt on Quando Rondo's life until Deondre Wilson (Dede) said, "Blood said you coming with us," Vonnie described.

Vonnie testified that he left Los Angeles and attempted to distance himself from the city and from Durk, later being fired as Durk's assistant in early 2023.

I feel like this is the most damning piece of evidence so far.

You can write the witnesses off as criminals, lying to get out of trouble. You can write off the use of Durk’s credit card, because lots of people had access to it.

But here he’s basically saying “why do I buy you guns, if you’re not going to kill for me?”

After the lunch break:

Things started to get tense in the courtroom.

Vonnie appeared more comfortable on the stand -- and also more cocky.

At one point, he began to say "I do not recall" every time he was asked about statements he made to police, and asked Findling to point out in the transcript where each line was said.

Findling's transcript was off by a couple pages, and this led to long pauses in the cross, with the defense working to correct the issue.

Grant seemed amused by this.

Vonnie yawns.

Findling: Am I boring you

Vonnie: I’m not on home confinement….just like your client

There was a lot of arguing between Findling and Vonnie in the courtroom.

Findling in one moment called out Vonnie's "ego" and "inability to watch his mouth."

Findling: You confessed to organizing the shooting in Blackshear.

Vonnie: I plead guilty

Findling: I mean (The State of Georgia v. Kavon Grant). The STATE of Georgia has not charged you. You would be looking at 200 years for that offense ?

Vonnie: I’m maybe already getting life
