    This always bugs me

Like okay it’s probably a very surface level comparison and whoever says that might be a casual

But it’s clear Yeat takes influence from Carti/Future/Thug. Like clear as day. To say he’s an “extension” of them is probably disrespectful and I can see why actual fans would push back.

But my thing is why do people also pretend like when these type of situations arise that they aren’t heavily influenced by the latter? It almost feels like they’re trying too hard to be obtuse. And again maybe it’s just the person who said that comes off as surface level

But like if I’m playing Juice WRLD and someoen says “damn that sounds like uzi or sum s***” I’m not gonna flip out and have a stroke because it’s clear he took a lot of influence from him. Now I clearly listen to them a lot so I can tell they don’t sound alike but it’s not the biggest surprise that someoen would say that

I’d just tell them he was influenced by Uzi but he made his own sauce with it. Why is that hard for people to just say. I feel like if I tried to tell people Juice was some wildly different sound from Uzi it comes off like ur trying way too hard, when in reality yeah they’re music has a lot of similarities. It’s still different too but point still.

That’s how I feel with the whole Yeat/Carti thing. This wasn’t directed at u but I had to quote since it’s been on my mind

no i completely agree with what ure saying, yeat clearly borrows from future and young thug and stating so is not a problem. The issue is when people hear filthy type beats and automatically compare it to carti. Like nothing about yeats flows, inflexions, or lyrics remind me of carti (again other than the production). It would be more appropriate to compare him to thug, future, ysl, etc

Yeah I agree, and once I started listening to more Yeat and others off that rage/plugg sound I realized their is a clear distinction. S*** to the point where now I feel like Yeat got his own wave now with ppl getting influenced by his flow/vocal inflections.

And I see how that type of pushback comes off as ignorant to actual fans, and if definitely is dismissive when people do that and completely define an artists off it

yeat is very much starting to carve out his own lane, im seeing alot of clones on soundcloud popping up that are copying everything down to the adlibs

I see so many people complaining about upcoming rappers who are posted on blogs. I feel people want a rapper who is unique.Yes rappers are blowing up still but people still are looking for that diamond in the rough rapper. Meaning a style not yet found yet. Like someone who is bringing something fresh. Remember when Drill rap blew up. It was new and a fresh new sound.

the youth have chosen their champion
