i never said it bothers me about ether

    once again, assumptions

i agreed with the poster who said he has a problem with the punches on takeover, which are pretty weak for the most part

my problems with ether are mainly the beat, its wack

and i think nas couldve gone in even harder, would love to hear the original version large pro was talking about.. but thats not really a negative

Yeah bro, it represents an era I'd like to forget.. I remember going to school and kids everyday were about calling each other "gay" and dropping the F word, bullying every kid who showed any hint of effeminacy. We thought it was normal. F*** that s*** forever man.

I'm glad my kids won't have to deal with that, society is evolving.. slowly but it's happening.

Not a Nas Stan line was just weird to me

I'd argue that Nas actually did...

    • He named his diss track ether which caught on...
    • He rapped about jay getting overshadowed by eminem on renegade, then it caught on...

Yea I didn't mean coin...I meant was on the butt end of the dis in both scenarios basically

idk a word for it and ended up saying something dumb

    He coined "stan" and "renegade"

Nobody was actually using stan like that before Ether

Stan was the dude in Em's song but Nas was the first to say "you a stan".

I didn't meant coin I said it was the wrong word brother

Jay tried to kick Nas when he was down and that s*** backfired and almost ended his career. The audio equivalent of picking a fight with a pencil neck geek who is seemingly weaker than you and getting your ass beat senseless by him in front of all of your peers.

How did it almost end his career?

    i dunno

em maybe went a bit extreme with the gay bashing on like 2 songs... a few bars

people love to exaggerate ems weaknesses tho

I'm not saying that Em was responsible for it, if anything he was just a byproduct of the era.

No doubt he's extremely talented and a legend but last time I revisited his classics that s*** irked me a bit.
