Black Feminist Thought by Patricia Hill Collins
I don't know about Andrea Dworkin. She said heterosexual s***reinforces and strengthens the patriarchy which I totally disagree with lol... I need to read more of her work though.
dworkin wasn't the only feminist at the time who said that. audre lorde, monica sjoo, sheila jeffreys and even bell hooks criticized heteropatriarchy. all of this begain around the time betty friedan condemned lesbianism and the lavender menace movement began.
especially if you're a striaght woman or man, the concept can be hard to swallow. "bargaining with patriarchy" is an article by turkish author deniz kandiyoti that explains the idea in a straightforward way.
(this isn't to say i wholeheartedly agree with the criticisms about straight relationships, sharing some info. thanks for the reading list material btw, i'll add it to op. this bridge called my back is on the list already but it's really great.)
women deserve rights
i unironically think we should respect women

I do think heterosexual relationships have to be restructured and approached differently but I think her critiques of especially sadomasochism to be somewhat misogynistic.
The "idk" is just idk about her. I've read Audre & bell (and have criticisms of both) but Andrea isn't someone I've read.
Let's note it was Black feminists that coined the term identity politics: http://historyisaweapon.com/defcon1/combrivercoll.html
In no way in hell identity politics should be celebrated
Solanas begins by presenting a theory of the male as an "incomplete female" who is genetically deficient due to the Y chromosome.31 According to Solanas, this genetic deficiency causes the male to be emotionally limited, egocentric, and incapable of mental passion or genuine interaction.
makes sense to me
is this book taken seriously?
Scum manifesto is for edgy sad teens basically. Same person who shot Andy Warhol btw

Intersectionality lies at the intersection of oppression against certain identities within the power structures of a given society, not at the intersection of identities

there u go, I didn't know if the person mentioned coined identity politics or the discourse around intersectionality so I was just saying one was more valuable to discuss imo

my girl used to be the leader of my city's feminism organisation
needs to be a lot of reform. nowadays people don't know what to protest for, anti-capitalista doesn't have s*** to do with women. if you want change, focus your efforts
I mean, is it really that extreme?
If you replace the words "men, male" with "women, female" it pretty much reads as a history book. I think that was probably her point.
i mean if you look at it as satire, sure. i can understand how an individual can take the book seriously, but my questioned was initially posed with academia in mind.

Feminism is anti capitalism

If you don't acknowledge how capitalism plays a role in women's oppression you won't make a real change.
