my girlfriend and her family have real pain from living under communism. I don't know anyone else who lived under communism, so my sources are limited, however, judging from her experience, I know a thing or two, and that is also partly what I base my position on. Her experiences fundamentally shaped my political position. Now I don't know how many people you know that lived under communism that you really know, but my guess is 0

Well my parents/aunts/uncles and even brothers have in former Communist countries from Ethiopia to Yugoslavia to East Germany that doesn't change anything
