Tried to get through it twice I couldnt do it I got to the endgame zone where it finally opens up and just fell asleep
homie that’s right where it gets good
jfc with the persona ff and kh announcements im just on edge for spring
you and me both
homie that’s right where it gets good
Maybe I'll go back and finish it the next time I'm in an FF mood
One of the only mainline ff games I’ve never played, just never had the urge to maybe I’ll check it out eventually.
If u do make sure you cop the royal edition but even then that wont fix its clunky ass combat, restricted "open world" & unfinished design.

It was clunky as s*** but it was still fun and stylish. I liked teleporting around as Noctis.

i think with a little more polish it would’ve been really compelling

combat i mean
y?
Literally Hold Sqaure to attack, Hold R1 to dodge and if you even somehow manage to get into a situation where your health is dangerously low you don't have to worry since opening up your inventory freezes time and using a health recovery item gives you crazy i-frames. So if you have a s*** ton of potions you literally can't die. I have no idea how they thought this was good design.
Now there are some actual cool combos you can pull off by weapon swapping but it isn't practical and doesn't feel rewarding at all since the game doesn't demand any sort of skill from the player
To me, it seems like they were trying to create a Kingdom Hearts style combat system with some MP management gimmick (Warp) but it wasn't working out and they just decided to ship the game with the unfinished combat system we have now

i feel that, i think there’s something to a combat system where you hold the buttons but that’s just me. the freezing time to heal thing is completely egregious tho i agree
its my fav out of all the double digit final fantasies i played. If you couldn't spam items it prob be top 5
I was just thinking about playing this yesterday. It’s not what it was supposed to be but I still enjoy what we got. It’s one of a kind and does what it does well.
Lowkey the best part about FFXV is not playing thru the story. Go fishing with the bros, hunt some monsters, cook, take some pictures, road trip, explore some caves, all that.

Very uninvolved for sure lol it looks cool as hell and you feel like you're actually doing something at least. They also do allow you to switch to different party members and chain different weapons so you do have the option to get fully in-depth with the combat, which is satisfying. But like you said it isn't really necessary, and holding square is just as effective. Dodge or warp away when you're prompted to and you really shouldn't have a problem with most of the battles.
Oddly enough I still feel like you're doing more in FF15's combat than FF13's where you just set it to auto-battle and occasionally paradigm shift when the situation calls for it...which is just a handful of boss battles and quests. It's funny, if you actually try to play through FF13's battles manually it's wildly inefficient and you make the game harder for yourself. Not even in the fun challenging sense but in the "Yeah you're playing the game wrong and you can't keep up with what's happening" sense.
One big knock I have against FF15's combat is that magic is dangerous. Not only does it take long to cast, but you can hit yourself and your party members with it, and they can do the same to you. Since you're likely boosting up your stats and abilities, it is very easy to one shot yourself accidentally with a magic spell.
what versus xiii could've been

This the game I wish we got. Whatever this original vision was supposed to be seemed a lot more interesting and intriguing than what ffxv ended up being. I enjoyed the roadtrip aspect of it though, but even that aspect wasnt as good as I thought it would be. Hated how linear the second half was too
Royal Edition still in plastic, I gotta play it, and FF X/X2 HD
FFX Now that's the real s***
it's pretty mid imo, wasn't a fan of the combat, graphics, plot, and some mechanics
was a disappointment
It’s not better than VI, VII, IX, X, XII. Would put it somewhere around IV, VIII, XI, XIII, but above I, II, III.
Words like ‘Overhated’ & ‘Overrated’ are really just overstated. It’s honestly probably just appropriately rated. It’s not better than some, just as good as several and better than others.
You guys realize XVI will be a dud in someone’s opinion & somebody will love it.
Ultimately all the issues with XV were brought on by the people over at Square & how they released the s***.

i don't think XV beats any of the usally talked about FF titles, even VIII and XIII
to me it felt stripped, and i don't mean barebone, just lacking a bunch.
