    Lmao
Iconic lines and incredible set pieces , how is that a downgrade
    This a hot ass take

Not a hot take at all

    Alien 10/10
    Aliens 8/10

Yeah...it has better set pieces, but all the characters are cardboard cutout over-the-top stereotypes. Characters and plot were a downgrade. I prefer the horror atmosphere of the first, but I'm not going to fault the sequel from being different in that regard.

Ayt I will say this: for pure tension/horror and atmosphere, I'll give Alien the edge. But I found much more to enjoy in the sequel and that's the one I come back to often.

The Passion of Joan of Arc (love Dreyer otherwise though. Just think it's not his best work. I'd take Days of Wrath and Ordet over it.)
    Lost in Translation
    The Handmaiden
    Scarface (DePalma)
Breathless (still awesome but imo not Top 20 of all time)
    Singing in the Rain
    Dunkirk
    The Shawshank Redemption (of course)
    Lord of the Rings
Investigation of a Citizen above Suspicion
When Father Was Away on Business (I still have to check out every Kusturica post Life is a Miracle but I'd take Underground, Black Cat White Cat, Arizona Dream and Time of the Gypsies over it)
    Fellini's Roma
    Kill Bill
    Django Unchained
    Birdman
    The Revenant
In The Mood for love (to some extent. Still a magnificent film)
    Certified Copy
    Down By Law
    Elephant (Gus van Sant)
Donnie Darko (Southland Tales a lot better)
Hail Mary (only on this site. 60s Godard way better.)
    No Country for old men
    Mad Max Fury Road
    Jurassic Park
    Schindler's List
    The Silence of the Lambs
    The 400 Blows
    Spirited Away
    Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
    Boyhood
Talk To Her (not Almodovar's best)
    Amour (perhaps Haneke's weakest)
Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me (only on this site. rather conventional Lynch with s*** pacing.)
Bycicle Thieves (De Sica made better films. Umberto D, Miracle in Milan)
    Raging Bull
    Goodfellas
Amarcord (nowhere near his big four)
    The Leopard
    Jaws
    The Pianist
    Solaris
    The Excorcist
    French Connection
    Full Metal Jacket
Two or Three Things I Know About Her
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (Bunuel made many better films.)
    Young Lincoln (trash film)
    The Elephant Man

Besides the chest burst scene, what are the other memorable moments in that joint? I get it's a slow burn approach type film but

i mean yeah the chestburster scene is really the peak for that kind of stuff. maybe when the alien first appears and the cuts with the cat

    Whiplash inclusion hurts my soul
    That's a goodass film

  • Frog

I like the film, don't get me wrong, but it's Aliens>>> Alien by a sizeable margin

whiplash best film of the 10s and 1917 was brazy just for night shootout alone

You're wylin whiplash is def well made but its really saying nothing and could have been so much better. 1917 def looked good but idc when the film is that boring

Not really surprising, unless you think the movie is actually perfect then your pretty much have to think it's overrated because it's regarded as one of, if not the best of all time

Wolf of wall street replay value is very high for a 3 hour movie so I see why that happens.
Fast Five is properly rated as the best of them all
Irish Man has less energy than a boomer with osteoporosis
    Agree with joker though

well that’s part of it. jordan belfort f***ed people over selling them dog s*** stocks and making commission off it. the movie should do more to show the viewer that belfort is a scumbag. but you walk away from the movie like “hell yea jordan’s the man i can’t wait to trade stocks on wall street!”

That same thought ran through my head after watching the movie
