I guess I didn't realize the Final Fantasy fanbase cared this much about number entries when they getting remakes and remasters
i thought they realized they were getting fed good
Hitting that Titan counter is so satisfying
Definitely a lot to learn combat wise

God, imagine the s*** people will be pulling in Final Fantasy Mode

I see all the love and thought the DMC combat designer put into this and then I see gameplay and it just doesn't translate like this game does not reward you for being creative like VII Remake does for example. It's impossible to beat some Turks, and bosses unless you completely change the way you fight in that game and have a strategy.
I don't know. I'm excited for this game and I get why they changed it to make it more accessible to non-FF fans, but this feels more complicated for FF fans who are used to combat having a different tempo. Like when things get hectic, I'm not thinking about some Eikon ability to parry that attack, I'm just going to dodge.

STAY STRONG CUTIEPIEHOLE
Digital Foundry guy.
Oooh boy. Frame rate nerds about to be big mad.
He isnt wrong, games been cooking for 6/7 months as it was meant to be relased in December.
We got version 1.0 in the demo, and theres a 1.03 out. So I'd imagine they've fixed frame rate!

yeah im not even touching that s***, I want the combat to be a surprise too
What the f*** is this tutorial ass s***. This is worse than ratchet and clank. And why is this all feel like they watched game of thrones and told chat gpt to write a similar story in the world of final fantasy?

I’m assuming you haven’t played many JRPGs, or classic FFs (4 through 9).
Also, there’s nothing explicitly GoT about this game outside of leaning more into darker territory.
Political intrigue, imperialist acts, even the setting is treaded territory for the series.
I think them mentioning GoT was a bit of a mistake because to a lot of people, for some reason, GoT is seen as the originator of dark fantasy, so anytime anything violent or sexual occurs they’re going to immediately attribute it to being a GoT moment, even if it’s completely appropriate for the narrative, tone or setting.

12 is a classic!!

Completely disagree with you. I'm really not sure of what you mean by saying FF7R rewards you with being creative. I definitely never felt like I really had to change my strategy too far outside the norm in that game besides having to cast Thunder because the enemy is weak to it lol (unless you're talking about hard mode, where I think you're actually forced to be less creative with your build, though its been a bit so I can't fully remember).
I also do not think we've seen nearly enough when it comes to 16's boss design to say we won't have to completely switch up our strategies. Who knows, maybe you can't just spam attack and you need to use your Eikon abilities to break the guard/parry or something to that effect? I don't think that's too far out of the question since we already see that with some enemies in the demo. I think people who do play a "simpler" way bynot utilizing all the abilities in their arsenal will end up complaining that the fights take too long.
You also have way more options in 16 compared to 7R, which I think lends to it being much more creative. Have you seen the stuff people pull off in DMC or Bayo?
More options are (usually) never a bad thing in combat-heavy games. Sure, you can always just dodge instead of using an Eikon ability to counter (and the game isn't outright stopping you from doing that or anything), but the ability to do something besides dodging is fantastic and gives you more agency to do something new and cool instead of dodging then pressing one button to attack over and over. This type of combat is the epitome of being creative and that "rewarding factor" (at least for me) is that it's more of an intrinsic thing that makes me say, "holy s***, that combo was sick".
As for the combat for this wildly different from previous entries, each tends to do something new in terms of the gameplay. There's usually some new gimmick or gameplay style, so I don't think it's very fair say this is something that's too much of a different tempo when it's in the series DNA to do something new (just look at going from the combat in 10 to 12 and then into 13).

https://twitter.com/noisypixelnews/status/1670060552117256192I’m a weeb myself and had to quit the demo and switch to English voices after the first handful of cutscenes

I think most people would agree that FF7R is a better system and most people were confused at the decision to flip back to pure action when they had something nice to build on from the other team
You aren’t alone in your thoughts
