Except not everyone disagrees. The game is obviously dividing the fanbase and plenty of people have thoughts similar to mine.

What makes this Final Fantasy to you? How have we reached a point where we can call a game that isn't an RPG a respectable mainline Final Fantasy entry?

The most I see people say when they say "oh yea this is peak FF" is that it has a story and it has iconography. They say trust me bro it just "feels" like one. The story is game of thrones lite until it devolves into typical JRPG tropes in the end so it's Final Fantasy. I mean..okay I guess. Does it play like one?

If I look at 16 as just an action game, I can give it a 7. There are plenty of flaws but it has good moments as well. Not a terrible game but not great.

But if I look at 16 as a final fantasy game then it gets compared to the series namesake and can't just completely throw RPG mechanics into the trash. If I look at it as a final fantasy game it's a 5.5. It's bad.

Idk I've come to realize a lot of Final Fantasy fans don't really give a s*** about gameplay I guess.

Ya bro TOTK is over hyped. Game plays like ass, is the same game with a new overlay, master sword is on a dragon in the sky, all the items are pointless, etc etc.

Starfield is going to be a f***in mess. It’s clear when you look at its dev cycle and think about the kind of scale that’s just not possible to pull off in a genuine way.

What else, Diablo IV? Good story, but for an MMO it’s bad. It’s boring as s*** during end game, which is where an MMO needs to not be boring.

No game is going to make you feel the way FFXVI did during the boss fights. No game ever has, and none will this year. Sure, exploration might be cool in Starfield, we’ve seen if. TOTK had some great parts, already seen it before.

No one has seen boss fights like the ones FFXVI provided. No game has a cinematic experience that this one has this year. No game will make you say “WTFFFFFF” as many times as this one will. No Man’s Sky 2 ain’t saving us.

Right, and don’t get me wrong they are all great games. I’ve said everywhere on this site that this is the best year for gaming of all time, IMO.

That said, none of these games have shown me something new except for XVI. TOTK ok I can build flying d***s. Cool. Rest of the game is the exact same as BOTW but worse. They just added a story to this one.
