Sounds like an Action RPG and not FF. I miss the days when the story and drama from the story was at the forefront. I don't need action every 5 seconds.

Never said it didn't. But generally every Action RPG game has been mid story wise. Maybe the last great one was Mass Effect 2? I'd even give it to 3.

Outside of Heavensward and A Realm Reborn, FFXIV story is mid. Shadowbringer had a few good moments but it's nothing special.

I wasn't referring to you saying that recent action RPG stories haven't been great, more so the take on the FFXIV story (which is the post I replied to btw). Sure, I don't think the stories in recent action RPGs have been particularly great, but I'm not about to write off FFXVI's just because it's an action game lol. Especially with how the story was with Endwalker.

Lol naw. That's easily my favorite FF game. The open worldness spoiled me. Because I recently tried FF7R and I dropped it halfway because I couldn't stand how linear it was.

There are better open world games and way better stories out there. FF15 overall was just kinda mediocre. Also a sausagefest cmon we need a few thots in the party SquareEnix, this aint Kingdom Hearts

Lol it's not even in my top favorite open world games. But open world games are my favorite type of games. I just love getting lost in the world and exploring. Same. Stopped playing 7R because of it being linear. From the sound, 16 sounds linear, too.

At least the older games had the illusion of freedom for the parts that were linear. Now? They wall off the game into 'sections' in order to avoid reflecting dramatic story changes across the entire game world.

FF16 will have areas big enough that it might as well be open world, it'll be straight

FF7R was linear af cause that's only the first part of FF7, the next one will be much more open

Yeah I was in the mood for playing an actual RPG game not an interactive movie game. You don't even have to earn the loot, the chests are placed literally in front of you. And yeah I recently read an interview about 16 and yeah it's going to be linear. Supposedly the creator wants to focus on the games having a movie experience.
