This is one of the last remaining games from the NVIDIA leak to have been announced There's been a lot of rumor on this project for a year or two.
Classic.
Actually watched that Memoria vid yesterday
Pretty impressive work. Hope the remake looks something to that degree. I think people have said that the remake isn't going to be to the degree of 7R, which I'm very cool with. Don't think this game really needs anything drastic.
Need another rendition of this though
Actually unreal this song is only used once at the beginning of the game for a "scripted" fight lol
this looks pretty rad honestly. hope square does a remake too.
@RASIE
I thought there was a thread for this already but I guess not.
But yeah, the rumors about a Square remake have been really strong with the whole NVIDIA leak and Square producing an FF9 anime/kids show (i think its only gonna be released in Japan or something though).
And the Memoria project is really cool and i've been following it for a while. Unfortunately what a lot of people seem to miss or not realize is that its not a game — it's essentially a visual art piece that several big FF9 fans have been working on. The visuals, characters, and environments getting revamped with modern tech is still cool though, especially when the Memoria people put faithfulness to the original as a top priority.
I would really hope (and assume) that a Square remake will retain the original's design philosophy with super colorful environments and whimsical character design. I know with other games/remakes in recent years they have really focused on realism and bland/dark/muted color palettes, but i really cant see them doing that with FF9 since its so famous for specifically NOT being designed that way.
But i swear if FF9 Remake trailer comes out and Zidane is a 6 foot depressed teen and every thing looks like Capt America Civil War then i seriously might not even play it

it definitely needs all that if they wanna make a remake at all worth it. i mean that was the whole point of FF9 in the first place, a call back to the old school days of FF.
i'd rather they keep it turn based too though it wouldn't be a dealbreaker for me. i imagine they would keep the ATB since the current gen is so action focused and this would give their line up some variety.

Keeping it turn based is one of my biggest wishes, or at least have an option before starting the game to choose turn based or real time battling
can't wait for them to finally announce the tactics remaster too, we're close
One of the best FF stories and it seems like a lot of people haven't played it. Bought a PSP when I was a kid specifically to play War of the Lions.

oooohhhh s*** how did i miss the tactics remaster?
The most underrated FF imo. I actually just replayed it late last year, still holds up well
Wonder if the remake is gonna keep the semi-isometric camera style.
If they go full third person that’s gonna be a tall order.
are they going the ff7 remake route with it though is the real question would be crazy if so
