I clearly am talking about the story and not any gameplay element, I can totally criticize the story which unravels in Non playable cutscenes and is adapted from a 20 yo game which I have played

Personally I’m not opposed to a story change. I do think it’s a bit unfair to judge it after only 1 part though. That being said I haven’t played it so don’t spoil it pls

I for one am refreshed this game is linear. It’s a breath of fresh air and makes me wanna play the game more. F*** open world s***
when it turns to open world in part 2

It was alright. Seeing the characters and a lot of the monsters and stuff fully realized in 3D with voices is really cool. I dig the combat system and some of the music, some of it sucks (I wanted more electric guitars and percussion like in the original, not crazy about the orchestras here.. not enough umphh). Should've laid out the big bucks and brought back Uematsu.

Most of the new story elements are absolute garbage and I hope they tone it down in the next parts.

By no means a masterpiece but it was a fun ride overall.

I kinda dread how they’ll pull that off. I cant imagine how they can transition to an open world. It doesnt seem possible it might have to be linear but that kills A lot of the magic of the original. Eh we’ll see.
