How'd yall initially become fans of hers. My story is actually pretty funny. Back when VH1 had those music shows they had a countdown of the greatest songs of the 90's and they started talking about Criminal. It's wack that it's the song she's most known for. This was like 2008. I was really just intrigued to see a small white woman with such a deep and husky voice. They showed the video for Fast As You Can which had the steam and the mirror and it looked cool. Anyway, that's really how I became a fan of her and that's why "When The Pawn" is my favorite album by her.

Finished listening to it. It's a very good album no doubt. "I Want You to Love Me" and "Cosmonauts" are both my favorite tracks.

Gonna be honest though, the whole 10/10 perfect album thing from a lot of reviewers right now is overblown imo. I feel like the production and vocals are on point, but I def feel like there's filler in there. Same exact way I felt about Idler. Maybe it's because I just get bored of tracks when she does that repetition thing where she keep repeating lines over and over, idk :dno:

It really sucks that Pitchfork gave a 10/10. It's already leading to unnecessary hate. Also the high expectations f***s up the listening experience. This album is just supposed to be taken for what it is.

around 2014-15 i was like 15, searching for new music, i came across idler wheel on rym. didnt fall in love with it first listen but it grew on me over time. went back to her old albums and she became one of my all time favs. i was also impressed by that voice coming from a lil white girl lmfaooo.

its not even just pitchfork tho its at least 8 publications. and the hate is barely there its just sites like KTT (who are openly sexist and can barely discuss music) and random people who are behind who are blindly hating.

the audience acclaim in general and esp on social media has been outstanding. the hate hasn't put a single dent in the overwhelming support this has gotten. she deserves the acclaim
