Let me preface by saying I’m new to anime. I used to be ignorant towards it and have learned better than to judge any art form as a whole based on a few. I was introduced to Makoto Shinkai last year with the movie Suzume, wanted to check out more of his work, and this happened to be on Max. I watched it subbed to not cheat the prompt.
I thought it was a cute movie about what you’re willing to sacrifice to be with the one you love. Though I have to admit I liked Suzume better, it connected with me more.

Week 3: Around The World: Watch a film from the Middle East
Powerful movie, shout out to the user who recommended me Farhadi. First movie from the Middle East I’ve ever seen and was worried about how restricted they’d have to be but this one touched on heavy topics.
It took a bit to get going but then it completely sucked me in. Perfectly captures how some men will make their partner’s trauma about themselves (like how it’s portrayed in so many revenge movies) instead of just being there for them. I wish I had watched Death of a Salesman before this because I’m sure there was a connective tissue between both films that I missed. Can’t wait to delve into the rest of Farhadi’s filmography I know A Separation is his most well known work but this one was on Prime so I chose it (fuck Prime’s trash subtitles btw it cut off letters and words)

Saw a few stills from this on twitter and it seemed interesting. It's a Japanese comedy, which mainly satirizes the depiction and idolization of the samurai in cinema. It's a bit slow & meandering but overall a decent watch.
