wish i could play illmatic for the first time too @Goo
Whatever happened to @Goo ?
Maybe because he has like… what, 30 or so albums and his style isn’t exactly easy to listen to a lot of the time. I’ve listened to most discographies but I’ve never got through all of his
That’s u my guy. It ain’t hard to dedicate time to one album a day
Guess I’m built different

That’s dedicating a month of your life to an artist you don’t even know you like
and don’t give me that s*** I guarantee I’ve listened to way more rap discographies than you

He has an interesting disco for sure. Kinda different peaks and lows. So it’ll be interesting listening back to back like that for you.
Keep doing u I guess
You too
enjoy Block Brochure (all 6 of them
) can’t remember hearing an E-40 album much shorter than an hour
Whatever happened to @Goo ?
banned but i remember even him don't know why, i remember reading some mod here hold a grudge on him
somebody even cancelled his wu-tang thread
okay i’ve listened a few more times now
Illmatic is an album we’re gonna be listening to and talking about for way more than the nearly 30 it’s been out
This really does feel like the real blueprint for hip hop and a perfect origin story for Nas, it’s so raw and cold and you really get dragged into that time and place of NY and his pen game on this elite he jumps and weaves around the beats so perfectly it’s insane, definitely one of the most important albums of all time and i’m excited to see where he evolves from me
don’t even wanna give this a number rating it’s a straight classic all the way
Favourite tracks: Halftime, World Is Yours, NY State of Mind, NY State of Mind, Life’s a B****, One Love, Represent
Least favourite: One Time 4 Your Mind
@Uhhhhhh started one of the dopest trends oat on here

You taking it wrong, just don’t see anyone being interested in an E-40 album beyond ghetto report card… and there’s a lot of albums after that one. No way you’re actually getting through them all
@SlapFiend just looked and he has 17 albums after ghetto report card not counting the 2 he did with too short and they’re all about an hour long, feel for you bro

Have faith my guy. I’m well prepared to get thru his discography
I like his voice, his style, might be getting into a few dud albums here the next few days (not today Charlie hustle is raw af), but i think after those his albums are pretty consistent. Yeah he’s got like a quadruple album and a sixtuple album in the 2010’s but doesn’t mean it’s bad music

One a day like a vitamin
Idk why u doubt me rn brodie lol I get e-40 gets allot of hate but his albums go really hard tbh
One of Kendricks favorite rappers if that means anything to you
@Aftermathbws btw maybe we should take this convo into my E-40 thread? 😂
It’s hard for a man to follow up such a classic album especially when it’s his debut
It Was Written > Illmatic for me
Very close though
I never understood this and I enjoy IWW
The production on Illmatic is so much more timeless imo
