im a huge fan of rock and i must say that these last few years the genre as a whole has kind of lost sense regarding its identity. nowadays you got bands ranging from folk to post-punk to indie rock that can be considered "rock".

that being said i do feel like post-punk is at the forefront of the whole movement, with acts like:

    • Viagra Boys
    • Iceage
    • Idles (even tho they overrated as f***)
    • Black Country New Road
    • The Weather Station (clearly leaning towards folk tho)

then you got bands like King Gizzard, Velvet Two Stripes, Werewolf Hair, Rival Sons, All Them Witches, Pond, US Girls, LOW, who have a clear lane ranging from traditional to psych to shoegaze.

then there's also the weirder, darker, more meditative side, like obviously Nick Cave, but also lately Lost Girls (Jenny Hval), Amigo the Devil (dropped a marvelous album last year), etc.

thats how i personally see it

What did you think of the new werewolf hair album? I enjoyed it for the most part

Yeah, I wasn't a fan first listen, but it's grown on me for sure. Wide Awake felt like they were tryin to prove something, Sympathy for Life was a more chill, on vacation tape.

Wide Awake is great, easily their best work

"Rock is dead" isn't about innovation, it's just that it hasn't been mainstream for awhile. Rock and metal are always pretty forward-thinking, especially in the underground.

Mm... no, that's literally what "rock is dead" means. Music critics were saying that when rock music was still pretty popular.

I don't know if this is pure rock and despite their profound popularity, Kevin Parker/Tame Impala is the most forward thinking in the alternative genre. Every album has a refreshed and different sound

  • Vampire Weekend, Rostam. if you consider them rock
