thegreatdivineHe was always going to sign with Nike imo. Back then, it was clear he was having meeting with both brands and seeing the best situation he could end up with but he has always loved Nike and in 2019, when he started rocking Nike HEAVY, I knew they'd reached a deal.
He posted plenty of pics with full adidas fits, he purchased ultraboosts from users on grailed/ebay to his house in LA (people on sneaker twitter posted this) so no he wasn't always going to sign with Nike. He was p close to signing w Adidas.

I think he wanted to go to Nike at the end of the day but not sure why they weren’t really keen on signing him earlier on (around the type the jordan thing ended) and also why Jordan Brand didn’t really go all out for him.

NOCTA is Drake's brand, 100%. It's just under Nike, the same way the YEEZY brand is Kanye's brand but under Adidas and the same way the Fenty brand is Rihanna's brand and she was able to make those shoes with Puma and bounce when she wanted to.

Eh, at that same time, he was also rocking a lot of Nike. Like the guy they interviewed said, it was a flirtatious relationship but he was also in contact with Nike. He went to the Nike HQ Portland a few times during that period for meetings so he was obviously being courted by both brands.
End of the day, he got a deal with Nike he would have probably never gotten with Adidas so it all worked out in the end.

The point is that nothing was ever set in stone. Pusha went out of his way to act like it was a done deal and Drake left Adidas because of TSOA when that simply wasn't the case.
