Aside from nostalgia, the S1 map is dry as hell tbh.

I actually like the loot/ammo/heals scarcity cause it makes for more anxiety inducing, more tactical endgames.

But yeah, S3 and onwards is where it gets the best, IMO.
S5 with the viking village and paradise palms is the best version of the map ever tbh.

Even S2 was already way better but I still love S1 too lol it feels so classy for some reason
