idk how you listen to Heaven and Las Vegas and listen to Blonde and think these two projects exist in the same genre
Have any of y’all listened to AR Kane? These dudes made some face melting music, the definition of mysterious music
a.r kane are goated
black ppl are so important to music it’s unreal just how underrated we are in other genres
glad they threw shade at most of the hit dream pop acts they really aren’t that groundbreaking as much as i enjoy their shif
a.r. kane are legends literally nothing sounds like their first album yet i feel they're greatly misunderstood and deserve as much as praise as other, "bigger" dream pop acts

they're dream pop in the truest and most literal sense. surreal, uncanny music
I dnt understand how on one hand the interviewer is dissing these white indie acts for not knowing the roots but the black uk band he quotes AR kane (who im listening too rn and fw so far) mention their main influence as ...the cocteau twins?
Anyway dope article about actual nerd music s*** these the reasons i luv music section man
Im listening to the linked black shoegaze playlist rn and on there is dagenham dream by blood orange, good days by sza and garden shed by tyler and i feel vindicated by this becuase despite the soulful vocals ive always thought these songs as indie songs
Also hoarse by earl sweat is on this interesting pick 😮
i feel like sometimes people don't realize that dream pop is a type of rock music. its not just "pop" that sounds "dreamy"
i dont think Blonde is rock music at all
I hate when people try to argue that Frank is R&B just because he’s black.
Blonde is much closer to Paul McCartney then it will be ever any other rnb album.

bc the cocteau twins are the cocteau twins man lmao they’re also mocking the yt bands for copying yt bands of the past without taking the sound forward

Ah ok makes sense
Generally i agree the genre is kinda stale, and I especially hate that corny shoe gaze youtube music off shootvthat became super popular in recent years
I didnt read long enough for the beach house “diss” but that’s crazy to me. BH are some of the best musicians working rn period

guitar effects and airy melodies. ivy, white ferrari, seigfried got it. and pretty sweet if we extend it to shoegaze
it's funny that one of dream pop pioneers literally called blonde dream pop and you still believe your argument is somehow valid

guitar effects don't make something rock music
i don't care if an artist of the genre called it dream pop, im still allowed to disagree and think it's not that great of a description. i dont think ithe album as enough in common with other music of the genre. feel like it could be better described by a genre with similar elements to dream pop that all apply to Blonde like ambient pop or something
its not that serious, just disagreement over what adjectives best describe a really unique sounding (imo) album

guess you talking about narrow depiction of rock music, but that's not the main point. that album definetily fits alternative tag if we taking that way. check chord progressions and instrumentations as separate. i just gave you rude description of dream pop sound that you can get parrallels from
it's not a straightforward dream pop record (and it never tried to be) but i think everyone's ignoring the main point rudy made, that blonde as dream pop heir is more impressive than any retro styled band blatantly trying to recreate mbv sound
