artists headline without new music fairly often

In recent years it’s not too often.

Since 2016, Guns N Roses, Childish Gambino, and Tame Impala are the only headlining acts that either weren’t coming off a new album released in the prior year or weren’t releasing a new album very soon that same year after Coachella.

Beyonce was originally supposed to do 2017 (the first Coachella post-Lemonade), but she postponed to 2018 because of her pregnancy

Low key I think this is what everyone wants.

I wanna hear the classics so if he actually did a career spanning set it would be amazing

    I still doubt this.

With the plan he had, it still seems the Coachella set for 2020 was centered around new music, just not in the form of an album. He probably would’ve released more singles before the 2020 festival if the pandemic hadn’t happened.

So I don’t think the Coachella set was ever gonna be just old music, so I’d still bet on an album releasing this year

LCD Soundsystem too, and Rage Against The Machine was slotted to play in 2020 and wasn’t gonna have new music out.

So it wouldn’t be surprising at all

Rage was planning a comeback legacy world tour for 2020, so it makes sense they were scheduled to do Coachella that year. I don’t think Frank really falls in that category

So the update is he’s now interested in the concept of making an album

  • Jan 16, 2023

So the reason he was dropping all those mid singles was because he didn't like the concept of albums anymore?
