Really makes me even more interested in how the singles album was going to sound.

Idk why there’s even an idea that the album format is outdated.

Yes it’s true we live in a playlist dominant culture today where very short songs run rampant, but artists get the most attention and success by far when they release a full length project. Fans don’t wait years for singular songs from artists, they wait for albums/mixtapes/whatever you wanna call them.

The most successful artists in the world (Drake, Taylor, Bad Bunny, Ed, Beyonce, etc.) all maintain their status by releasing albums & full length projects.

Singles are cool, but the only thing people expect from a single is that it leads to a full length

You’re not wrong but I can also see why someone would want to experiment with dropping singles more. It does feel like despite what you’re saying, a large amount of the population doesn’t listen to albums so as an artist I could see looking at the situation and saying “no ones listening to albums anyway why bother”
