Single model is actually dope, too bad they weren’t received well enough so he had to chicken out
not true
he just wasn't dropping enough
I can't believe I didn't get first page because I thought this was another trick
Frank you got me again you f***ing b******
What a sad day. Noone could be having a worstest day on this planet.
You’re not wrong but I can also see why someone would want to experiment with dropping singles more. It does feel like despite what you’re saying, a large amount of the population doesn’t listen to albums so as an artist I could see looking at the situation and saying “no ones listening to albums anyway why bother”
I would’ve liked to see Frank follow through with the singles idea. The pictures in the artwork were a dope concept
That’s just not true though.
If you look at mainstream music and the most successful & dominant figures in that space, they all use the album format, and they receive the bulk of their success whenever they release an album as opposed to a single.
I’d say a vast majority of the music listening population anticipates albums from their favorite artists rather than singles

I feel like frank was right in 2019 but covid took us back into album mode imo.
U right ultimately tho. Nothing beats the abum format. But we almost lost it for sure

What major artist that dropped around that time made you think it would actually change across the board? lol it’s a cool way to release but even the guy that was hyping it up (Calvin Harris) eventually went back to the album format. It just works

Yeah I was telling mfs that 2018 really changed things. Specifically it started with the success of Views and how Drake made tons of money off putting lots of songs on there which generated tons of revenue versus the traditional album. People started to pay attention to that and how streaming changed how we listen to music and decided that singles/hits mattered more than creating a thematic album.

Honestly couldn't name one off top. But major artists in general were really on that singles wave and albums were lowkey on the decline sale wise. Kept on releasing loosies and pushing back albums and casual audiences weren't really caring. Atleast that's what I remember.
Omar Apollo
Haven they been together for like 6-7 years ? And they like took a brea for a Lil

I don't think it was ever in danger of being lost. People were just being dramatic about playlisting and long albums becoming the industry standard

Lowkey yea. Which is why I guess the convo that frank had with the execs wasn't productive. They knew he wasn't all the way right just yet lol
