huey p rxcanthe prep parties were a real disaster and left a bad taste in the mouth of me and my friends when they were going down.
i think a lot of ppl joke about the capitalist stuff with frank, but its actually a shame he's trying build a legacy off of being this black queer artist without really doing anything to make that happen
not a huge beyonce fan, and i dont even spin renaissance like that, but what u gotta respect is how diligent her team is on finding and collaborating with young black artists
not saying frank has to do the same obviously, but i feel like he markets himself as a queer legend, and wrote this whole manifesto about the prep parties and is constantly trying to bring the queer kid raver experience to "the mainstream" without really putting the work into making that meaningful and accessible to the kids who really need those spaces
the dj set in the middle was awesome and felt like he brought a market hotel / knockdown center rave to coachella. thats awesome. but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when i think about who his audience really is, and its basically not anyone who cant spend money for festival tickets and expensive jewelry
