it's pretty easy on surface level
Apple got tons of money that they can simply put up to launch/promote new ventures
Apple music exclusives in 2016 and now over the last ~3 years they've put a lot of money towards production companies/directors (Scorsese for KOTFM for ex.)/star power for Apple TV.
Stars probably aligned perfectly with Blonde/Endless release and those exclusives AM were doing. Same way stars aligned perfectly for Scorsese and this Apple TV push, for ex.

so essentially frank came to him or vice versa and said i wanna drop this visual album and then drop blonde later & jackson looking at the legality of it saw no issues.
he even said on budden “it was fair” and that frank’s a genius. called the entire event an oceans 11 move.
now i’m wondering how the advance worked? or did frank pay def jam back for the advance, bought his masters and then got paid 20m by apple for the exclusive?

craziest juke ever loool know everyone talks about it to death but seeing everything fall into place like it did must've been the biggest cathartic release if you're Frank
