he's been rly lowkey and just chilling I think lol, also playing in a band nowadays. he's been doing broadcasts for Voices Radio in London also
recently interviewed upcoming grime legend M.I.C on there the same week I recorded a long talk w him too, that's why I followed him and he followed right back lol

Blonde's vulnerability was also an important influence on his new EP he said
nice, will check out the radio show + keep an eye out for that interview
I remember dude being a huge huge cinephile too from his posts on the bird app lool, very underrated part of the blonded radio days 4 sure
Also love Vegyn extending his collaborative arm to the London scene in general. Slowed down a bit this past year (excluding Dean Blunt lol dude might as well be an honorary World Music member) but was churning out a lot of stuff with really cool artists in his vicinity through Plz

Blonde 10 year anniversary year commences in 3 days I might as well say that now, what the actual f*** man

I am kind of impressed by how quiet Frank’s collaborators are about their work with him. You’d think at least few would have slipped up at some point and gone into some detail over the last 10 years.
I understand why, more just impressed how buried he’s able to keep these things.

One of my all-time fav Frank tunes actually.

Vegyn is from London p sure? also LA based but def spending a lot of time there too
and yh Roof Access was lowkey like the unassuming backbone of the original Blonded radio run, p sure he was the person who added the most commentary. always had the impression he's the least chaotic of the three who keeps the ship afloat lol. we don't know who played what but he must've put me onto a ton of amazing music.
Blonded highkey rly shaped my tastes during that time, def among my fav experiences w radio ever. was listening to the new episodes like it's a new album
I’m nursing a hangover and need a distraction. Decided to rank every song frank has appeared on that has come to light since 2020 from “My GOAT is back” to “I guess I’m glad he’s doing/did something”. I don’t really think any of these are bad. Let me know if I forgot anything.
1. Diary Snippet — would have been the song of the year with a proper release. Love how moody it is. Really fits in with the modern alternative vibe rn while still firmly being a frank song. It would be such a shame if we’ve reached the end of this song’s life cycle
2. Choices - this song is more than the sum of its parts. Really hope we eventually get this in higher quality
3. White Ferrari (Coachella Version) - I wouldn’t expect this to work as well as it does, but it’s a really good version. I’m of the mindset this is older but am including it since what else is there to talk about.
4. Solo (Coachella Version) - I don’t see this get talked about very often. He made the right call releasing the version he did, but there’s still a lot to enjoy from this one. It really makes me feel like whatever he does next will be similarly chaotic/electronic. It works really well for him.
5. blonded ENERGY - I could honestly take or leave the interview part of it, but this thing is so instrumentally rich. Love the hits of reverb every time he says “energy”, and especially the more chaotic synths in the back half. The last three minutes would be really good with Frank singing on it. Wonder if there’s a Come on World type companion piece to this
6. Self Control (Coachella Version) - Radiohead is a good band to copy. It’s good!
7. Feelings Gone (Acoustic) - this is the superior version fs. It kinda just sounds like Dear April/Cayendo, being not quite as good as the former and better than the latter. Love the “fuck looking back, I’m liking what I’m looking at”. Quintessential Frank lyricism.
8. Little Demon (Arca Remix) - Goes Silly. Love this song.
9. Come on World, You Can’t Go - really pretty song. Glad it’s out there, but it does truly live up to its freestyle format. Given the subject matter, it feels weird to say I wish it were more fleshed out or really critique it much at all. Hope it brought Frank some solace. I do enjoy this quite a bit for what it is.
10. blonded Lucy in the Sky - much more interesting interview than energy. Extremely reminiscent of XTC by DJ Koze.
11. Night Life - great cover. It’s crazy how good of a singer he has become.
12. Lemonhead - debated on of if I should include it but why not. Frank contributes nothing meaningful to the song but I still enjoy it
13. Wiseman (Coachella Version) - I might rank this one higher if I hear it in CDQ, but I also could see it being lower. Kind of a weird song to embrace punk aesthetics on. Still plenty about it to enjoy. The little synth part after the drum rolls is great
14. Still Mine - Some clever lyrics here and there. I think this is a really great song, but also don’t think this sound brings the best out of Frank. “My soft spot for you the only soft spot on me” is fire. The vocal effects are fairly novel, but that may be for a reason.
15. These Days - a fun peak behind the curtain of sorts. The instrumental doesn’t feel like Frank Ocean, but he does a good job on it. The back half is much better than the first half. Love the flow and the piano embellishments
16. Younger Self Snippet - Pretty good, but if it were on blond or endless, I don’t think it’d even crack the top 10.
17. Feelings Gone (Calvin Harris remix) - not as good as Slide, not as good as the acoustic version. I’m fairly apathetic to the LAUWIL era, and this one feels like it plays on all the things that didn’t blow my mind as it was happening.
18. Coral - Got good bones. Not much flesh yet.
19. Instagram snippet 2 - not much here. It sounds nice but I don’t get much Frank vibes from it. If Brent Faiyaz was singing on this I probably wouldn’t even remember it.
20. Pre Demo ft Frank - I get why the verse was cut. Song holds up still
21. LOVSOME - definitely a demo. If it came out that this is AI, I’d kinda believe it. Cool atmosphere
22. Life’s Unfair - I’m pretty sure the interpolation is the “it’s not that I didn’t love you” part. It’s good, but a song like Ice Slippin’ scratches my Frank itch much more
23. Lava - I know it’s generally accepted that there is a big maturity gap between CO and Blond/Endless, but I usually get the vibe that I think that gap is greater than most people do. To me, this song is not the sum of its parts. I irrationally dislike the “I don’t like this beat they call a heart-beat” line. It reminds me of that scene in 21 Jump Street where Jonah hill says “Jesus died for our Cynthias”. It’s still a decent song. I just know both Frank and the Neptunes have better music both separate and together.
24. Spaceman - kinda sounds like Dominic Fike. I’ll play it occasionally
While I’m here, I do want to say I find talking about Frank in online spaces to be very exhausting. I wish I could just be excited about this guy possibly releasing music any time there’s news without people jumping in with like the Gucci backpack or whatever. There’s a perfectly good argument for moving on with your life and being excited when the day finally comes, but there’s also no need to project that onto other people.
I know saying something like this truly does not matter because I can just ignore it, but it’s pervasive and I think it’s unproductive and dumb. Even if it’s occasionally funny.
At this point, i feel like I’ve lived many musical lifetimes, experiencing nearly every musical experience that I could conceive, except seeing Frank live. It’s a really frustrating thing and any semblance of hope that he’s coming back is very exciting to me and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Okay, rant over

yeah think he's from London. Some of the London collabs:

Duval Timothy; he's been around for a min and they've worked together before but very good song from an underrated release last year. Kinda hoping Duval is on this next Frank project somewhere haha incredible artist

Nia Smith

on blonded radio: appreciated it so much when it aired but even now still feels underappreciated, really was a special moment for music discovery /sharing in a very cool way

Yeah it’s annoying, can’t appreciate the art someone has already made in the world without someone else mindlessly complaining because he won’t drop more when they say so
next release gonna be special. That one studio snippet is the most obvious gem, burnt into my brain since hearing it

they were a lot more vocal between co and blonde, guys like malay, ommas keith would chime in every once in a while, sebastian spoke of it, james blake and rostam too.
this album has been insanely quiet though, almost radio silence.

I love you man completely agree
I've come to just accept that Frank is 1 of 1 in virtually every way and I'm fine with what we've got right now. I know in my heart he will either return to music or close the book on it somehow if he doesn't.
I do know that he will only return if he feels he has a project that lives up to the pedigree of his first two. It's been ten years since Blonde. He's already beaten the Lauryn Hill allegations lmao. If he didn't do the Blonded singles we could've had an album in 2019 with Chanel, Biking, Lens, Provider, In My Room, Cayendo, Dear April, Little Demon, Feeling's Gone, Changes, These Days... That's already eleven great tracks. From post-Covid stuff add in Still Mine, Come On World..., The Weekend vegyn, Nightlife, and then two skits he would come up with and there you go-- a third 17 track album.
