And you text nothing like you look...
....Here's when I realized you talk so much more than I do
I, here's to the highlights when I was convinced
That this was much more to you than some night s***
I know you don't need me right now
And to you, it's just a late night out...

    I have 2:

first is entirety of Seigfried. It's probably objectively his greatest feat writing wise to date (imo)

second is the unreleased song "Easy" from the BDC mag (which is I think some earlier version or sister song of Hublots / In Here Somewhere) that reads like a poem just by itself I well up a bit reading it personally

    I saw you, Chinese birthday
    With a strawberry ICEE
    Channeling Morrissey
We were at the rave, dancing horribly
Pulse went through my face and my clear backpack
    Sonic sound you made me
I know you're in here somewhere
    You came with someone
    There's something you need
Hope you don't think I'm easy
    What starts inside these hallways
    Always comes and goes
    I come from nothing
    Like you come from nothing
    Light as a laser
    Cut from the navel
'Til it's dark as a plum
    Back where we're from
    Don't take life so serious
    If you find another
    He could sleep right here
    Between the two of us
    I'll move over some
    I hope he don't think I'm easy
    Between the three of us
    There's no one sleeping cold
Nobody said it would be easy

I just remembered this dogshit horrid ass remix of Godspeed that DVSN dropped. Holy f*** this is straight trash LMAOOOO. Mfs put some random out of beat garage band preset over the production and added boring crooning on top of it. I swear this gotta be one of the laziest and pointless remixes I’ve ever heard.

On top of that I can’t even fathom the fact that people in the comments claiming that this is BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL?????

“Ivory’s illegal, don’t you remember?” followed by the bridge: the low register, the vibrato on “gooooood”.

Honestly, I could write an essay on Ivy but the first line I mentioned is just so mysterious to me. Not sure if it’s a nod to the trade history or an inside joke. It’s the only time a fraction of the song title is mentioned and it’s in a “pure” form - Ivory (luxurious and hard to attain) and not Ivy (poisonous and invasive).

And i’ll go on record and say that it’s the quintessential song on Blonde.

Yes.. seigfried, nights, self control are all incredible but IVY is BLONDE. It’s airy, light and his decisions are flawless throughout from the vocal layering, instrumentation and lack of percussion. Any of his contemporaries would’ve slapped drums and 808s on this and called it a day but Frank, off the bat introduces you to his sonic world. In 2016, to strip that much away and just let a song breathe in a pop structure was unheard of but that IS the dna of Blonde - the fragments that are missing.

It’s the best song of the past decade, and no one has come close to write something as nostalgic and dreamy as this.

There is no quintessential song on Blond, the story of Blonde is what you need. This project lives with you as you travel the many different aspects of life, ones you care deeply for then others on a whim carried by bravado and imperviousness. The Rush isn't to understand, it's to live. The quintessential part of Blond/Blonde is you

And tonight I'll hold you close, close enough to bruise
Hope a garden grows where we dance this afternoon
    Hope our children walk by
    spring when flowers bloom
Hope they'll get to see my color
    Know that I've enjoyed sunshine
Pray they'll get to see me, me wither (when I was young)
    See me (too) wither
    (When I was young)

Pray to the pipe, I slide deep inside,
Not too deep, not too shallow, I'm mindful of size,
She chock-full of my swipe, like a capsule sealed tight,
With that substance you need, start a family tonight.

  • Pink + White perfectly encapsulates the late summer/early fall malaise
