False. Blonde got a 9.0 on Pitchfork.
None of these songs might have gotten Best New Track, but they all got glowing reviews.
I can promise you, it doesn't matter what album Frank drops next. Doesn't matter how basic or how trash it is. It'll get glowing reviews. Even it's even remotely decent, it's getting a 9/10 easily. Pitchfork always has artists they give glowing reviews to, regardless of what they put out. Simple examples are Kendrick and Beyoncè. Doesn't matter what either of those two drop. It's getting a glowing review. Kanye used to get the same treatment as well until be became a Trump-loving a******, then they backed off. Meanwhile, other artists will drop way better projects and maybe the most they'll get will be a 6 or 7 over 10. Examples that come to my head. The new Dua Lipa album. Janelle Monaè's last album. I could go on and on.
1. Blonde got a 9, well deserved. Let's not even begin that discussion.
2. Endless got a 7.5, not entirely "critic favourite" esque score there
3. Read the actual reviews rather than the headlines, they literally call IMR a borderline throwaway track and DHL a "warm up" track. Y'all making it seem like they're eating his s***, if they loved him so much you'd think something in between Chanel and Dear April would've garnered some sort of recognition from them. He's certainly a critic darling but he also makes solid, experimental music.
I'm not the type to pin point past threads but seems like you're more of a numbers obsessive and billboard hits guy, you upset at pitchfork's resentment towards Drizzy?
he barely wrote a paragraph lmao just because it took you 10 mins to read it don't mean it's an essay

I don't care about critic reviews about Drake's music. I'm just pointing out how critics kiss Frank's ass and think everything he does is amazing.
Blonde is only polarizing for people who have no taste 100% certified classic in 2020
Same people will say weeknd better or some s***

Why do you care so much about what someone else wrote about music
Just enjoy the nice sounds bro

Why do you care so much about what they’re saying? Does it bother you that much?

Clearly they don’t cause he cited reviews where he was critiqued. Two of those recent. You ignored those tho
In a lot of reviews for Blonde, critics admitted they had no idea what he was talking about on most songs or what the entire album was about but they still gave it glowing reviews simply because it was a new Frank Ocean album.
People really act like Blonde's lyrics and themes are like reading the Sound and the Fury or something
the most overrated artist of our generation, he's still good tho but his stans and internet critics really conviced us all of this narrative just because he's a homosexual and mysterious
he is literally gayboi carti
The hype is deserved, press play on CO or blonde
I haven’t heard an artist make music to the caliber of frank ocean in a whiiile
Anyone who says other wise is oblivious or in denial
I know a ton of people irl who don't get the hype about Blonde at all and think Channel Orange was his peak
Blonde is only polarizing for people who have no taste 100% certified classic in 2020
will say im not huge on cayendo and dear april, granted ive only listened to each a couple times. But frank has always been an album artist to me anyway
Also seeing him live blunted to pink + white top 1 experiences

Wait which critics said this?
And literally how? The majority of the album's lyrics are relatively easy to follow smh

As a Frank fan...
If anything, the amount of influence Blonde has had on music in the last couple of years
I'm gonna need some receipts for this one fam

Frank Ocean’s persona is definitely an appeal for his fanbase (like most artists with huge groups of stans) but I can assure you that most Frank fans just have an undying love for the music he makes. I never exactly self-analyzed my reasons for liking frank, but I think his music is incredibly cinematic and also makes a lot of people feel like it’s tailored to their personal aesthetic interests

I appreciate the receipts, but tbh i was kinda expecting more than just 5 artists from the way you said "considering the amount of influence".
That's not to say Frank isn't influential, the guy started as a label songwriter for popular artists, he definitely has a network of people he's advised or been a sounding board for throughout his career. I just read your post and took it like you were saying the album pioneered a style that's saturated popular trends since its release.
Also kinda sad reading that Lorde didn't realize she could do whatever she wanted with instrumentation until she heard Blonde... That was established nearly 60 years ago and tons of artists have been doing it since. Like what was she listening to before Blonde? Haha
