A comedy focused more on the family dynamic would've been hard to do though cause you gotta find people with the charisma and likability of the original and that's very rare.

This type of show with drama every episode is a lot easier to make, it's why Tyler Perry be spamming these s***s.

I'll give them credit for sticking with their "darker/gritty" vision for this reboot. I'll also give them props for the casting. However every time I see this trailer I just see something that did not have to be made...or at the very least, something that should be able to stand on its own legs without having to use the name of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and nostalgia in order to garner attention.

They setting themselves up for failure as people are going to keep comparing it to OG Fresh Prince. What made the original special is how they would use comedy and charm to not just entertain, but also educate and tackle touchy subjects. In this reboot I don't really see much charm to it. It looks like it's gonna be beating viewers over the head with its messaging, which is likely gonna turn people off from it rather quickly.

All in all the trailer looks okay, and I think the show itself is just gonna be okay at best. But the thing that's gonna hold it back is gonna be what the creators were banking on to make people interested in the first place. Nostalgia. They were better off just making this an original kinda show instead of a reboot.

I'm actually annoyed about it cause I really am happy about the casting. It's just a shame that the writing on the wall is clear as day that the show is pretty much dead upon arrival because these studios and streaming platforms keep tryna peddle nostalgia bait.
