Hip-hop came from funk/disco and reggae/Dancehall. rapping was something people did at parties to support the DJ. If u listen to most rap before The Chronic came out, the beats are never too far away from the post-disco subgenre “freestyle”. stuff like Straight Outta Compton or Bring The Noise has production that Is very Dance friendly.
