Isaiah Rashad on his way to one of the best discographies ever and I feel like people are gonna stay sleep until it’s too late cause he takes so long between projects
Not even close
But if they only doing it for the fans it’s fan service
I feel like if that was their intention it’d have already came out
James Blake music did not age well
Rare example of an artist influencing a sound that others did better than him afterwards
Frank Ocean deserves an unprecedented $100 million plus record contract with artistic freedom
Not even close
Obviously he’s not even close yet he’s 3 albums in without a true classic but he has time his first 3 albums are extremely good too I could see it
James Blake music did not age well
Lowkey
I do think he could do a better job of that sound now though given how much he’s improved at other aspects of music
Frank Ocean deserves an unprecedented $100 million plus record contract with artistic freedom
He has enough money to just do what drake does now and what he seems to do of funding the album himself and then shopping it to a label who buy x% of royalties in exchange for a check and paying distribution costs
Rare example of an artist influencing a sound that others did better than him afterwards
This is what I’m trying to say lol. His music was so impressive when it released and as time went on and you moved on to other artist, his output started to look less amazing. I still have a lot of respect for him as an artist tho.

He's three albums in, in a span of almost 10 years and only one of them is considered elite and he already slipping with HIB. I don't see it happening
Hate to be that guy but I heard tons of Blacks and Hispanics literally tell me that they preferred Cole over Kendrick solely because of voice and delivery, especially females.
But it all boils down to preference. Kendrick still sells well so his voice is very much in demand.
interesting in my experience i had literally never heard of criticism of kendricks voice, esp from my friends, but once i started going online and reading music discussions it seemed to be the #1 complaint against him.
in any case, its always seemed like a weird point bc i would consider his vocal ability to be one of his strongest tools from a storytelling perspective

which artists did it better than him?

It probably gives him more of a sense of freedom to drop music that way but Frank is like, one of the last prestige music artist left. It’d just be cool to see him get a deal like that in today’s f***ed up record industry.

I feel like we just strongly differ on THIB and are seeing completely different trajectories for him as a result lol

For sure he deserves it

Yeah. It varies.
I remember having casual rap discussions with my fam and friends and they'll talk about Cole's music.
Then, when I bring up Kendrick, they'll give him props but tell me that they can't really get into him cause of his voice.
To be fair, a lot of them still f*** with GKMC. They just don't f*** with Kendrick's voice/delivery post GKMC like that and they find Cole more approachable.
Half of these people were chicks though so that might play a role.
Camron is the most influential rapper in the past 3 decades
Not even more influential than Mase tbh.
Out of Drake Cole and Kendrick, I listen to Kendrick the least
I listen to Kendrick like twice a year since 2017. Took me that long to realize dude was overrated as hell.
having the "greatest discographies of all time" convo is almost unfair if you bring jazz goats into the conversation because the volume of great music they often have is just insane compared to other types of music
