Dont think that is much to do with pop and way more to do with sexism.

The pop part wasn’t my point it was to you mentioning a pop renaissance

Industry full of hoe ass niggas. Not to sound jaded but there's not about to be a union because Chappelle Roan said labels should do better. They been doing folks dirty for a hot minute, you'd have to throw the whole industry in the trash. Prince famously changed his name to a symbol in the 90s. They put f***ing Prince through the wringer.

Prince had the unluckiness of a time where social media wasnt around tho tbh.

Call it optimism (and as an artist, s*** I gotta be or else i’m just spiraling) but maybe the fact word gets around quicker nowadays may lead to not change from the label perspective but change to how artists (especially those upcoming) approach said labels.

Yeah, cause IRL mofos love that girl. There are parties in nyc where the theme is drag/chappell music lol.

If your only pulse was ktt you would think nobody listens to her lmao.

Yea i dont think social media reflects the general population which is why i asked, i think most ppl recognize what shes trying to say/do is right

As an artist my opinion on labels is just avoid them. The idea of getting signed is so long and gone, like obv if u have leverage it can be a good dynamic but then youre already independent so

    Ah gotcha.

Someone has to say it and if insert black or white guy that used to be that vanguard figure is too p**** to say it ( coughyebeforethepornturnedhisbraintogushcough ) than it gotta be from somebody.

Anything chappell do is gonna get vitrol no matter what, she cant control that.

    Gonna be real with you.

This girl comes off ignorant whenever I see people talking about her.

She wants insurance? Then that's what your government is for and one of the main deterrents in America to getting subsidized healthcare is the fact that if you have an insurance plan as an employment benefit, you're less likely to vote in favor of socialized healthcare systems.

Not to mention, she isn't an actual employee of the label. If she was, she would probably have an actual health insurance package.

Now sticking to the employee bit. She's a contracted employee. When she says livable wage? Is she expecting a salary? As a salaried employee you have an obligation to your employer to work on a scheduled basis.

If you want these things, either unionize, become a full fledged employee of a label, or fight for universal healthcare (For everyone, not just the employed).

Oh labels are a wrap imo f*** em.

But vince staples said it best: how do you tell someone wait and be patient when xxxtentacion just got shot?

The part I loved (and why they def not bringing her back) about her speech is mentioning she was signed as a minor.

Not even on no #wopwop s*** but it is not mentioned enough just how predatory it is for labels to exploit literal children in dangerous environments to put them in compromising deals all for an advance that at that moment might be a life saver to them.

But she makes the label money directly and indirectly so this point is null and void. Signed artists literally the reason labels exist lol.

Otherwise, i think she would agree with your last paragraph too. The fact universal healthcare aint a thing is one of this country’s biggest tragedies lol.

Also this girl is like 26 years old?

After the ACA was implemented she should have been on her parents healthcare plan for most of her career.

Her dad owns a family practice and her mom is a veterinarian?

Idk man, these out of touch white people pipe up at award shows and we just go with it.

    Feels like celebrity idolatry.

Yea nah i see it, definitely a complicated subject, especially with how s*** changed over the course of her life, like she dont even rly need a label if she came up in this era probably

The industry being in collapse makes these demands less likely but man its gonna be a rude awakening when artists realize how rigged this s*** is and the only way to win is not play the game.
