Not the consensus at all. You gotta speak for yourself, my guy.
And no, they aren't. People are projecting their idea of what they think Atlanta should be, and they're attacking the way the show is exploring and presenting certain ideas revolving a very complex issue. An idea that can be explored and/or presented through a number of ways. People are complaining about it either being too on the nose, or too complex for what they think the show should be. Like, which one is it? If not, both, as it depends on the viewer, and not the show. It's presenting its idea just fine, the level of awareness between viewers is not all the same though.

The show is not presenting an opinion for you to agree or disagree with. It's exploring a topic and presenting you one possible interpretation of a very broad and deep topic. Then you can complain about the execution, but it's execution of what it wanted to achieve is precisely the way they wanted. It's just not conforming to how you want the topic handled or executed. It's not going to be done differently, except in your imagination, or in another show, in another format maybe, which again, just leads back to your imagination.

Also, it's a surreal tv-show, reflecting what we deem reality, but it's still not the actual reality we're living in and therefor won't and/or doesn't have to abide and conform to all the parameters and views we have of 'real life', so it's unfair criticism from some of you to expect that out of it.
