Lol still don't get it
I read it as “I’m really attracted to you now, now that I’m embracing my black side”
I guess saying niggas really love white b****es?
Lol still don't get it
loool
it's playing on the stereotype. Black men prefer white women etc

Lol yea that's what I was thinking too.
Or he is more of a player now
Nah he needs to make an anthology show
i just wish they kept them separate a bit.
the real story has been built up for years but this season its kinda brushing past all of it which is a shame.
the last episode was great though. easily one of the best
Lol still don't get it
Like others said, the black dudes loving white girls thing goes with Aaron saying he's never been more attracted to her
Honestly just the look he gave the camera after how the episode went took me out lmao
Lol yea that's what I was thinking too.

Nah…well yea he’s more of a player but that line wasn’t no player s*** to say to an ex. It’s tied into race and him being more black now.

The look is what solidified what he was really tryna say lmao
Ya in reality these topics are a lot more weird & nuanced . The writers of the show just capture that
Not to go galaxy brain but U can see that ep as black & white or all grey areas
think abt it
DLTGOYH
I mean they’re clearly written so you feel both throughout the ep lol it’s just 3 dimensional charecter writing so you see both sides . Not sure there’s meant to be a “correct” reading of these anthology eps they’re to provoke thought & discussion. If it was just some evil white cop story it would fall pretty flat imo
even when ur dealing w characters that aren't 2D, they still generally get framed in certain ways, right?
Atlanta just frames their characters in a weird like super super ambiguous way
The end of this episode had me rolling

"That ass is stupid" as the black girl was walking away had me dying

These characters are framed in certain ways. Aaron for example is framed as a kid embarrassed by his blackness until it’s time for him to be black.
Idk how nobody working on the show never realized Trini 2 da bone is a bad episode, they should've just stopped shooting that s*** and gone back to the writing room. Might be the worst episode of the show so far imo

i mean i think the atlanta charecters are as well most of the time
but the point of the show is inspecting incredibly complicated issues like racism thats why it takes such a 360 3 dimensional approach cus real life isnt some marvel movie sht with bad guys & good guys for the most part
altho i do think most elevated shows will have characters that are perceived in completely different ways by different people at different points in a scene/episode/season i guess a recent popular example would be euphoria a lot of people will empathise with the rue character cus of her trauma others will see her as a degenerate, same w nate etc

i don't think you understand what i mean by framing
I mean how in film you are generally either supposed to side with or against any given character. usually, it's communicated to some degree who is right and who is wrong. In good writing it's not usually a hard line, but like there's still usually people you are supposed to root for and people you are supposed to root against.
Atlanta's weird cus it's like you aren't supposed to root for anyone at all

those the best characters, where you showcase their flaws and strengths equally and let the audience decide.
Some see Tony Soprano & Walter White as misguided individuals trying to do what they gotta do to support their family.
Others see them as a****** criminals and who should be dead or in jail
Didn’t find this episode all that entertaining tbh. Not seeing what some of y’all are.
Like I understood the concept and it was executed well I guess. But it just wasn’t really entertaining as an episode.

Honestly it sounds like you're talking about generic films bro.
Look at Breaking Bad and Sopranos, it's not as simple as "should we root against him or with him?"

Look at Parasite or Burning, there wasn't any characters you're exclusively suppose to root for and other characters you're suppose to root against

Trini 2 De Bone might be my favorite episode of TV this year so far
All the anthology episodes seem like they're loosely based on true events as well
