Does anyone in they right mind think S3 is THAT great? Yea the show as a whole is great, and in hindsight maybe S3 will be placed as my favorite. But it’s a big difference between a great show and THE GREATEST show ever.

Tbh, only time will tell but yea, it's not unreasonable to say that it was great because it took a risk most shows wouldn't take, which personally I respect.

Other than Sopranos, I strongly can’t say this show is better than The wire or Breaking Bad.

I’m a big character person, character and dialogue. Tony Soprano and Walter white are literally the pinnacles of great dynamic characters and are taught in screenwriting classes. They are a huge reason why the shows became what it is.

As much as I love Atlanta, none of the characters have as strong of a characterization as other great shows. Not even current shows like Succession or Barry.

Some can argue “but those shows had more seasons” but by the end of S2 of those shows we had a great understanding of how amazing those characters were. Al and Darius are cool characters, but they aren’t amazing.

So in your honest opinion this season is the 2nd greatest thing on tv of all time?

Aint too many shows bold enough to even attempt to do something like Three Slaps and that was the FIRST episode they came back with.

Yes there’s an elite list, but that list might consist of 5 shows, 10 shows, 20 shows, even 50. Those numbers are a big difference from being top 2.

We're talking about two different things. I'm talking about the folks who want the show to follow the traditional TV format and have every episode follow the gang and focus on the "plot" with a beginning, middle, and end like it's the walking dead or something.

We don’t know for sure those episodes are in chronological order but could also just be the laziness of the writers since they all wrote the episodes separately

Facts. Creatives need to learn to say less and let the art speak more.

“iTs NoT tRaDItiOnAl” excuse doesn’t mean the writers can just do whatever they want. You can be non traditional and still be succinct. Read any type of post modern literature which is completely unhinged and left field but it still follows rules that have been around for quite literally hundreds of years. Rules that will be untouched and used till we burn from the sun. You still need to write well and there are many things in this season that shows the laziness and it comes off as amateurish. I enjoyed most of this season don’t really have a problem with finale and happy they tied some stuff up with the anthology like episodes but the laziness is quite obvious. Also the over barring “OH WE’RE WEIRD” is getting in my nerve. Most of my critiques from earlier on in the season in this thread still stand.
