The club was a legendary episode of tv for me… having just two surreal moments … one with a setup (invisible car) and one without (secret door) took the episode from great to classic…
When they went surreal this season it didn’t feel grounded in anything
Both my parents are from Port Au Prince, so I understand the distinction and I don't even completely disagree with the sentiment. My problem with this conversation is how it can easily be framed into one about how "your black hurt isn't as bad as mine" and how flimsy the nuances can be (at least on the surface).
Which this episode can be seen as, literally a black man telling black children they not the right kind of black to earn this scholarship. Hence why I made the Lena Waithe comparison, you wanna make this commentary on blackness, but then turn around and have "Queen and Slim Black Kid Shoots Black Cop" moment... I can't help but feel an air of bitterness to it.
Cuz it was lazy BS writing. DG wrote some Lena waithe BS. He got it he’s blackest thing out……him and his lightskin babies cuz he procreated with a white woman
I’d never imagine a street rapper like paperboi whose been robbed by close homies would let some random white dude into his crew. The behavior of all these characters didn’t feel truthful
They wrote an episode of paperboi getting mad at a gay black dude for s*** that Brian Tyree Henry (Oscar’s dress) does in real life lol
Some good negative reviews.

This whole season was fire until the finale.
So Donald got an Emmy nom for standing around for 4 episodes while Brian Tyree got nothing? smh
I thought this season was disappointing but it still deserved that Outstanding Comedy nod and Outstanding Writing for either New Jazz or RWPW. f*** the Emmys

“Just look at the cameos this season — Chet Hanks, Liam Neeson, Kevin f***ing Samuels. By giving these men a platform (and paying them), I couldn’t help but wonder, is Atlanta really critiquing what these men represent or falling victim to it?”
I disagreed with some of their criticisms but I really liked that insight and it highlights how transparent DG’s trolling can be at times. Just like the self-imposed “Why are you afraid of black women?” question that raised the question even more as opposed to answering it
