Nah it doesn't feel like we are supposed to be laughing at accents .
A lot of the humor comes from the white parents being clueless as hell about a culture that their nanny was apart of, meanwhile their son feels right at home .
Also it's funny when you realize the fact that the son will probably grow up to be just like Chet Hanks' character
The monkey butthole was sent to the dad, because of a Trinidadian saying
"Higher monkey climb, the more he show he ass"
Also the quote "This is how we hurt" hits hard
I think the episode really speaks on how open and willing black people can be to share their culture with others... and how some cultures process grief or trauma.
And how much time Sylvia spent taking care of other peoples children and neglecting her own.
My first thought was that the episode was just speaking on black people's culture being adopted by white people. I didn't know it's actually a common thing in NYC and other big cities for black women to be nannies and caretakers for white kids. After the episode aired, I remember someone here saying at schools you'll see a bunch of black women waiting to pick up white kids
So parts of the episode like the kids at the funeral feeling like their mother sacrificed time with them to raise Bas went over my head because I didn't know it's actually commenting on a real occurrence

This guy gets it lol
A lot of Atlanta's commentary is universal but I didn't catch this episode at all
Even without the message tho, the humor is just mid for me. It feels like we were meant to laugh at the Trinidadian accents, someone airdropping that guy a butthole and Bas saying things that an old black woman would say. None of that got a laugh out of me. Chet Hanks cameo was kinda funny I guess
We don't have Popeyes over here but I caught when Al said he knows that manager is mean as hell because of RDC's videos
A lot of Atlanta's commentary is universal
Nah, not really lol. And you thinking that is a testament to how great the writers are.

I’m a musical director in a children’s program in nyc. When i tell you majority of the “parents” I’ve seen have all been middle to old black women with heavy accents
Context: this is like in the rich part of Brooklyn, most these kids is white asl

Yeah this is the only show I’ve ever seen ever where (as a black dude myself) I’m like yeah black people wrote this show for sure

Or at least you can tell black people made up most of the writer room

I meant universal for black experiences. I'm South African and Light Skinned-ed is legit my family

They all became Disney superheroes and left Lakeith to be a snitch
i reaally wish they came out with some merch for this show or something. loved the finale episode, that shot of them driving in the maserati
Seasons 1 and 2 are goated, 4 is dope as well but theres nothing like the come up
FX has them all uploaded on their Apple Music page
Not sure if Spotify has it too, but it's definitely nice to have all those songs together in a playlist, gives me a chance to find some good music

could you link the S4 playlist pls? it's not showing up for me for some reason

Tyler is just like all of us itt
Can't believe Donald and T haven't collabed in any type of way.
And Tyler has been praising Donald since 2016, he f***s with him musically and loves Atlanta
I would just like to see what they could come up with, rather it be some type of short film/music video or music
Idk if that's him I never heard anyone say this before
I saw people saying this when the episode first came out lmao. But there is absolutely no indicator that is Kendrick, and I can't think of any reason the showrunners would just get Kendrick to be in one shot for no apparent reason
If they were able to secure a Kendrick cameo, I'd highly doubt they'd waste it on 1 shot of him just looking down lol
