First episode is depressing when you find out it’s based on a true story

How?
Episode 1 being very random and this episode not advancing the plot at least to me. Seasons aren’t long nor are the episodes

I did. How does that character based on a real story have anything to do with paperboy?

It doesn't
Was a dream Earn had referencing something that happened in real life
Why do yall expect Chekhov's gun type storytelling? This is Atlanta

It was an anthological episode that didn't utilize any existing plot or characters established prior. However the episode was driven by themes familiar to the series. Inspired by the true story, Atlanta chose to adapt Devonte Harts life story to serve as a cold open to the final 2 seasons.
Thankfully, FX premiered 2 episodes back to back. After watching S3E02, there should be no confusion as to what the first episode was especially if you’ve looked up the context of it. The main cast and story continues in episode 2 seemingly a few years since we’ve last seen them. No need to act like an idiot but I had time to explain it to you like one on my lunch break.

Can say the same about the majority of the show
Very little happens to actually advance the plot forward, a lot of it is just random s***. Sometimes we only see the payoff of events way later E.G Earn and Darius running errands, selling the dog and then Earn only gets the money in Season 2
We don't know what the relevance was of seeing that guy turn up to Paperboi's door in that Batman mask, Ahmad White being on the bus with Earn, that dog, black Biebz etc. Some of this may come up again later, but for now it's all just random s*** that may never have a greater point. And that's fine

Nigga was Googling "Who is Lachavious Atlanta Season 3 explained"
First episode was so good I had to process for an hour so I couldn’t watch the second last night
I don’t mind if the plot progresses slowly, honestly this show feels like a slice of life anime at times, i like it this way
