This is one of my favorite shows ever. But we're almost halfway through the season and besides episode 1 nothing has impressed me
How are we halfway through the season almost and I've barely seen any of the gang. I kinda expected the Europe episodes to be the wildest ones yet
Playing ass grab with Benny Blanco for 40 minutes ig
Niggas really enjoyed that s*** too smh “bro it reminds me of me and my friend”

Those are white boy games and I never f***ed wit it.
Idk I think my only issue is non of the main 4 being included as much. I’m all for the satire and themes behind it, I prefer that over plot. But at the same time I tune in to see Darius, paperboy, earn, van not the dip s*** who went missing in hangover
This nigga got more Screentime in this episode than all 3 hangover movies combined
hick white guy killing himself after his lil speech was some artsy just to be artsy bullshit
When I realized that the guys shirt had backwards words because he had to look himself in mirror and see the truth
When yall realize Atlanta is lowkey highkey an anthology series, it'll all make more sense.
Don't go in to it with expectations and enjoy the ride. The writing has been brilliant this season
it was aight
Every episode has led up to this slavery and reparations one
episode 1 - black kids adopted by 2 white women who were abused and literally working in the yard like slaves
episode 2 - it concluded with paperboi almost performing to a crowd full of black faces… cue the donald duck tap dance gif
episode 3 - invited to a white billionaires “hidden” place where many things happen
— a black artist is lowkey finessing the white dude with crazy amounts of money, earn learns to go with it
— van steals some peculiar art pieces
— old plantation picture
— billionaire tries to finesse paperboi with 40k but paperboi cuts down his beloved tree (a big tree is almost always present on slave plantations in movies too)
— white guilt scene w darius
ight ima rant real quick cuz this one of my fav shows of all time
why donald glover gota shove these random unnecessary social commentary episodes into the show? i f*** with them honestly but they got nothing to do with the actual plot of atlanta
im watching this s*** cuz i love the main characters but these episodes bring nothing to the overall narrative
episode 2 & 3 were perfect but 1 & 4 felt like a waste of my time

You think 1 and 4 bring nothing to the overall narrative??
The same show that touches on race and the effects of racism in almost every single episode ?
Atlanta is more than just "the adventures of Earn and friends" tbh. It's telling a much larger story than Paperboi's rap career .
I get you wanna see more of Earn and them, but these episodes fit perfectly with Atlanta's narrative, themes and storytelling

the last 2 seasons had all that commentary woven into the story while including “earn & friends” instead of bringing the main plot to a halt with random characters idgaf about going through some pretty well done surrealist racial situations
i can picture glover making some wild twilight zone show & go krazy with his talent on that but not on atlanta bruh
just how i feel personally
interesting how they keep mentioning the interwining of racism and capitalism, first with jai paul last ep and now the radio in the beginning

Like I said, I understand that you wanna see more of Earn and them
But did Barbershop, Teddy Perkins or Champagne Papi do anything to further a plot? Did you mind those episodes not addressing a plot
Is 40 specific to 40 acres and a mule?????
“We tryna buy back are 40 acres”
waitttt
If that’s what you saying then this further proof how genius this s*** is cus that flew over my head too. Bruh you broke that s*** down or read that somewhere???
I realised it when I was watching the episode a second time with a friend.
Now I think of it, getting your due(or reparations) is lowkey the overarching theme of the episode. The same theme was present in Earn's scenes with the wack artist. He made that decision to also get his due, after seeing that picture on the wall of the first loan with the black man/slave in the back, because basically we're due on what is owed us already
And at the same time Darius' scenes explores the white guilt and the overcompensating that stems from it.
I'm sayin' man, people are looking past how good this season is because they're too absorbed in their own expectations of how ''funny'' it should be.
PS: I'm sure there's something to that black ghost story the billionaire told to, but I couldn't really get that one clear myself. But I might give this season multiple watches and crack it all down the line, but yeah, it's dope, it's interesting. ATL always been deeper than it's seemed.
Like I said, I understand that you wanna see more of Earn and them

not exactly
the criticism is more towards atlanta specifically more than other s*** tbh
